Inner circle of close friends I would say a handful.

Outer circle is a lot, if there was a middle circle I'd move some into there!

I don't really have a circle of friends. I have a bunch of friends that I know from different points in my life,so they don't really know each other. And that number is relatively small.

Very small ...have probably 4 friends I can call true friends who are there if I need them and vice versa...And like V as said after a divorce you really find oot your true friends...

My mum and both sisters, and 2 close friends. All I need, they're the ones who have got me through. When my son died so many people just disappeared. Didn't know what to say to me so didn't try. Trauma and change shows who really cares.

So true. It was the same when I miscarriaged. Friends with young children disappeared. .

Iv got 3 friends who would be there for me, plus my mum and my sister. I'm not really close to my sister, but she would be there with open arms if I needed her.

Iv seen people with loads of friends and I get exhausted seeing them split themselves in half to see everyone.

Facebook tells me I have 39 friends. And a couple of them I have actually talked to in real life!

I do need to make new friends though, problem is I'm so picky! Lol

I'm really lucky with that, my two best mates and my sisters all get on like a house on fire, nights out are awesome because we're all crazy.

Don't get me wrong, I make mates, pals, buddies very easily, but these bonds are usually made and broken quickly as I move through life, say changing jobs and such like, it's rare I stay in touch with people outside of these environments. When I refer to my 'inner circle', I mean as in people I value, care for and want to be a permanent fixture in my life's journey.

My bestie is like this, she's a bit of a friend collector (if that makes sense) & I would say she is rushing around most weekends trying to fit everyone in, exhausting!

My longest best friend exhausts me with her work load! I see her about 3 times a year as she is so busy. I couldn't and wouldn't want to live like that, she hardly sees her family either.

Everyone else is just a colleague or an associate. (Dont tell them I said that though)

Throughout my life I have had to take and leave people very lightly...military upbringing...everyone always moving on.

As someone else pointed out, when you go through something traumatic you're true friends will stand by you and help you through. I've been there, so sadly I know I have no-one. And that's also had the effect of making me very wary of getting close to anyone again because I don't want the disappointed of being let down.

The truth is my parents are all I have. And why some of the friendships forged through Fab are so important to me.

I'm like most here, with just a small number. One of my former teachers is someone who's really close, plus my former pen friend who lives thousands of miles away: an amazing piece of luck that we're so compatible and close since we were 11. Then another friend from way back - we speak most days but share everything.

Then the outer lot, acquired through life but not as close. I've had a lot of fun at my parties, bringing them together. Friendships - all relationships - take an investment of time, love and energy or they can weaken - some friendships from 10-15 years ago have faltered somewhat, as we've not done that so much, since moving to other areas.

true friends are very few - so many people that have been a huge part of my life have let me down - parents- ex hubby plus some i got close to - even now a person i thought was trustworthy has let me down and hurting me so i to keep my distance - i have loads of mates though to have a laugh with

I am still very good friends with the group I went to school with. Some of them I've been friends with since I was 3. We drift apart and come back together, live in different places but when we see each other it's like we were never apart. Of that gang two of them what I'd consider 'my' inner circle. I have one good friend at work, and my husband is my best friend.

my sister is my closest friend we didnt get on when we where growing up shes 6years older then me and was always a bossy mare lol

she bought me a pillow years ago and wrote on was this

I guess I have quite a large circle of really close friends outside of fab and a handful of close friends from swinging scene. I have certainly worked out who my friends are. As I'm in recovery and part of a fellowship I think that has certainly enabled me to have some amazing/close friends in the vanilla world .

I have about 5 people I'm very close to, and 2 of them are siblings! (is that really sad?) I don't really have an extended group of acquaintances because I really can't be bothered with smalltalk, I'm no good at it and I find it stressful. That's not to say I don't love meeting new people, I do, but the ones I can have really meaty in depth conversations with, not idle chit chat.

Vanilla friends : 4. 1 lady I've grown up with (we know each others dirty secrets!), 1 lady I've known since the 90's. 2 guys I used to share a house with. Their my vanilla inner circle.

I have a fab inner circle too of a similar number.

It's always good to have close friends in any circle. I'm lucky to have some amazing, long-term, ones.

My best mate was right in there supporting me when i split with my ex and his mates and his girlfriends mates were slagging me off, so was my sister straight in there calling him a lying arsehole lol. Feel really lucky to have people like this in my life.

Can understand why some people have nobody though, not many people are real i reckon.

I used to have quite a few in my inner circle, last summer there was a huge group of us but for one reason or another we've all moved on to different things, so my circle is quite small, the only people I see regularly now is my ex and his partner (ish)
