This has bugger all to do with fab , but a topic about homophobia reminded me about this.

In this day and age, people are very accepting of the gay community, but this can't be said of bi people. "Oh, this is just a phase", "So are you becoming gay" or "you're being greedy" are some comments which get thrown to us, not by just straight people.

There is a great report on the Open University website, if any one wants a look, called The Bisexuality Report 2012.

Anyway, I like sitting on this fence, I get to see the nice arses on men and nice arses on lasses.

I've seen more hostility from the gay community tbh. Like I'm afraid to be gay or something.

"I've seen more hostility from the gay community tbh. Like I'm afraid to be gay or something. "

^ This. Definitely.

The last site I was on was a gay one and fuck me, the vitriol that was spat at me for daring to like women too.

From the usual "Bi now, gay later" right through to "You're disgusting and I hope you die."

.

.

"Am I not a man and a brother?"

Apparently not, no.

Try putting a frock on and see their reaction!

The gay girls, however, were very welcoming. I danced all night with them. Such lovely people.

It's the analogy I've used before - there's a mistaken belief that bisexuals have 'the best of both worlds'.

In reality I've found it to be more like walking down the middle of the road and dodging motorists from both directions trying to run you down.

One has to admire the irony that a minority group which strives for acceptance and openness within society would vilify and exorcise another minority group striving for acceptance and openness across society simply because of the lifestyle they choose and who they sleep with.

Bigotry. Hate. Intolerance. Its all about the player, not the game.

Yup. Let the haters hate.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will just get on with having fun.

It's a sad state of affairs, but I think we need more celebs to come out as bi.

We frequent lots of 'gay only' dogging spots round these parts .

To begin with we got a bit of flack from some of the gay guys , as I am straight , but soon got to know them and its all good now . Infact we get on really well with them , and on a social level we have way more in common with the tv's and gay guys than more traditional swingers !

I actually find similar responses from lesbians.. in a gay bar, soon as I mention I am bi, I may as well have said I have raging leprosy

As soon as most female celebs do, theres an article in all the glossies.. and a while ago I remember it being termed as 'fashionable'

To me, anyone should have no need to 'come out' as bi or gay. To say they like men, women or both should be as easily accepted as saying 'no sugar in my coffee please'.

Exactly!

And you'll notice it's (slightly) easier for bisexual women - they're some kind of holy grail (at least for men) - whereas bi guys are a sad lot who tend to get a kicking lol

More women are. It seems to be the 'in thing'.

I think celebs should have the same privacy as anyone. I don't like it when people say they should come out just because they are famous. (Sorry)

And are the gay guys as friendly to you as gay girls are to trans girls?

I think it's because people often don't seem to take female bisexuality seriously. Like it's just a phase, or just to get men's attention.

I've found that both the gay and straight communities have issues with bi people. Like bi people have to decide whether they are straight or gay.

It can be kind of lonely being bi.

Let's start a new bi community.

Central

It's some people's need for certainty, but within only their limited frames of reference. Black or white is good, though no greys allowed.

One bi male friend has long term relationships with all genders - including sex. But some are uncomfortable when he moves from a female partner to a male etc, or assume he's having sex with all genders, whoever he dates.

Bi is interesting, as it highlights the many and varied options for us. Some limited to just a small choice of sex activities with one gender, others emotionally available to one or all genders etc.

And then the fab straights who like some amount of bi fun.

I'm very out about being bi/queer, a swinger and kinky.

My work and social life has me surrounded mostly gay men and I spend a lot of time telling them that sexuality isn't black and white. They reason why they are so confused seems to be that when they were coming out, they had to choose, straight or gay.

Mainstream society as a whole still doesn't give much time to those who live in the grey areas between sexuality and gender.

Quite frankly, fuck em!!
