My old school where I worked are no longer putting on a Christmas play the nativity went a long time ago but what ever happened to the Christmas spirit x

Because we used to put on a great show and it used to be a real community school. And the community feeling has gone more sad than outraged to be fair x

Have you asked them why? They stopped doing the Halloween disco at the school my kids go to, as it offended some of the Christian governors. I questioned it and stated my opinion on religion, but don't protest over them teaching it within the school. It's something for the children, so much gets banned due to religion, culture, health and safety etc; we all grew up and survived childhood and majority can make their own decisions now, so I don't see the need to take away so much from them these days.

I do not see the issue with nativity plays, if it is on the grounds it may offend some people..

This is a christian country end of and it is part of celebrating a christian holiday if you don't like it then don't go to it or partake. Simple.

People should be allowed to celebrate their holidays, religious events be that dewali , eid or honika (spelling probably wrong so apologies) but that should include Christians.

If it is on the grounds of funding, teachers time or health and safety then work around it.

My town has festive lights now...not Christmas lights.

Word play hmmm lol wish they would call them pagan lights sounds alot better to me

Its all Health and Safety these days

Also its about not offending other religious beliefs...

Im British and I dont think our belief should be sacrafised as we are now classed as a multi national country

Has the school had bad ofsted reports? Ive heard of a few schools stopping non curricular activities while they concentrate on getting the necessary things back up to scratch.

Our children's school used to rely very heavily on help from parents for this kind of thing and it was noticeable that it was the same parents each time and very few of us at that. Is it possible that there aren't enough parents willing to help?
