" I think he means as in first, second, third and Forth. but I can imagine you don't find much room for humour in it. Driving an extra 80 miles a day must be gutty not to mention the extra fuel costs. | |||

The second Tyne tunnel that was built (which was desperately needed) got a grand total of zero government support so had to be totally self financing from tolls. A toll bridge or reinstating the old toll is probably your best bet of getting a new crossing any time soon. | |||

" The new crossing is already in progress, should be open by next dec. the tolls were scrapped due too the congestion they created , which probably over time contributed to the condition of the bridge now. | |||

The new crossing is already in progress, should be open by next dec. the tolls were scrapped due too the congestion they created , which probably over time contributed to the condition of the bridge now. " It would have been an excellent source of money for additional investment though. Shame they went for scrapping it completely rather than moving to open road / free flow tolling like Dartford. | |||
