Christmas or Xmas?

Does it annoy anyone else when people write Xmas instead of Christmas? Not sure if it's a deliberate attempt to distance the religious aspect of the season or just laziness. Maybe I'm just being pernickity? I also like eating biscuits in even numbers and have to increase the volume on the television or radio in blocks of 5.

I'm not particularly pernickity but it irritates me too.

X is the first letter of the ancient Greek spelling of 'Christos' & the usage of Xmas has been around for quite a while.
