"Just seen the news on Cumbria 2005 ,2009 and now 2015 and that comes after they've upgraded the local flood defences to apparently 100 year storm events! It's struck me that for a long time now that, Augusts seem to be shit these days, whereas I remember them alot better from a child, how much of that is rose tinted I'm not sure, but I also seem to remember Wimbledons in June raining more than recent years and being an outside worker I'd probably say may seems to have the best of weather in recent years but again that's just my recollection of it!" Yes I used to work outdoors a lot at one time and could Remember some wet summers too, April and may are stunning months and probabily my favourite to thou have often seen almost jet black skies with Bright Sunshine out in between radiating out on to the fresh foliage and blossoms along with hail showers but I would class that more the norm And obviously where you were different Regions etc, even now its mild indoors Well at this very minute it is with hardly any heating on it suits us humans yes but its not the proper path For nature to travel but given the Choice like most I still prefer it mild certainly from a bill perspective.. point of view thou no doubt when these winds drop it will Soon cool off again if it was like this around christmas (which I have known before often) in previous years Into january thats not natural but since the 2009/10 winter we seemed to have gone back to previous colder times. The flood defence upgrade you mention Must be a real concern for those Involved I did hear some guy on the radio either at keswick or penrith mentioning that it had never been as bad as it was today and no doubt other Areas will be affected there to, Thou hills and mountainous regions have their charms they are magnets for storm clouds and rain, the weather can be settled further south where I live In derbyshire but a trip into the peak district further north and peaks or hills will drag down low lieing cloud And p*s* it down usually when I,m up there.. I remember back in the mid 90,s here when the local school playing fields were like like burnt Toast and everywhere was parched due to drought conditions thou we have had plenty of hosepipe bans in that time The weather conditions back in 95 were Similar or nearly the same as in 1976, but in recent years its been more rain Which at least we can benefit from if we can store it, but of course its a no win situation if your on a flood plain or somewhere similar without the right defences in place which for some people effects every year. | |||
