Matching bra and knickers

Just a curious question, wny do people by different knikcers to bras and why do places sell bras with no knickers that don't match.

They I fully understand if you need a special bra for an occasion or some knickers that don't show through a certain outfit but I'm talking about normal everyday wear.

For normal everyday wear I NEVER wear matching stuff. I just wear whichever bra I need depending on the straps (so they don't show outside of outfit) and then pick a lace thong out of my drawer (that's mostly all I wear).

On an everyday basis I don't usually match because most of my knickers from sets aren't as comfortable. And I don't always wash a bra after just one wear whereas obviously knickers I do!

I just was in asda and they had some matching sets then they had lots of really pretty bras but no knickers with them, I know this has always been the case but I've never understood why

I only buy sets. It's so annoying when you pick up a bra to find there are no matching knickers. I usually buy online but I saw a lovely set in Asda,in my size recently,and couldn't resist. Very reasonably priced too

its not that it matters well it would make me feel funny if it didn't match.

It's to me the most logical thing to do.

Buy a bra and knicker set that matches than go out your way to buy odd ones.

Same as washing my bra everyday, I put my knickers in the wash any would I not put the bra in.

But that's just me

I must have struck lucky. I usually can't find the knickers in M&S or BHS. I did find a nice set in Next once.

Same here. I wash a bra when it needs it and that isn't necessarily daily. I don't do matchy matchy all the time but I do on occasions but sometimes cheat and match colourwise rather than exactly (which may be why I own so much black lingerie).

Nope I don't wear a clean one every day, I bath every day and stuff!! Clean knickers but not clean bra every day, I don't have that many!

When at work i don't wear matching bra and pants but generally i wear plain black pants then and i feel they are ok with any colour bra.

The rest of the time i tend to wear matching bra and pants however often if i find a bra i especially like i will buy it in lots of different colours and sometimes only buy black pants that match. I do sometimes buy 2 pair of pants when buying one bra and if the bra has only been worn for a few hours then i will wear it again before washing it. Obviously pants are worn only once then washed.

Most of my underwear comes from Marks & Sparks as i love their underwear and it fits well and washes well

When I used to wear bras I coudln't afford to keep washing my bras at the same rate as my knickers. You can only wash bras a certain amount of time before they lose their shape and support. So I would usually just wear normal cotton underwear with whatever bra was 'dirty' at the time.

I, quite frankly, couldn't imagine spending the time and effort to make sure I always put on matching underwear every single day. I can honestly say that my life has been improved by not wearing bras at all - I don't have to worry about stupid stuff like matching underwear, and I don't have to spend a small fortune on underwear.

Ah well I don't mind being passé- I wear matching underwear about 90% of the time - and always wear matching underwear to meets!

I also buy most of my lingerie from primani but shhhhh - don't tell anyone!!

Yeah I'm one of the scruffs. I don't wash bras after every wear. Sometimes it has only been on a few hours so I don't think it's necessary.

I'm not especially sweaty but i like really clean clothes and i simply choose to wash bras frequently i feel better in nice clean clothes. When i was a teenager my parents wouldn't let me have clean clothes on every day so since becoming an adult with free choice i choose to wear new fresh clothes every day.

I have very little money as i earn minimum wage but i budget so i can buy nice underwear. Hubby appreciates it and i feel better for it

Know what really bugs me...

You get a lovely set thats mainly white or cream, the bra stays a great colour and the knickers go a hint of grey after they have been washed ....

So you then cant let that set be seen by anyone

Always match here now. Since I lost a shed load of weight and went from 46GG (Ugly bras) and size 26 equally ugly knickers, I now always wear matching 32dd and size 10s. Even my gym undies are sets! Makes me feel so much sexier.

Used to work in a warehouse making sure that over 100 lorries a day got dispatched... just not a sweaty person. Some people just aren't sweaty people.

I'd stick my neck out to say it's probably very loosely related to how fit you are. One of my partners and myself have no need to wear deodorant - we're both pretty active people (he does ironman triathlons, I train six or seven times a week). Whereas one of my other partners is very unfit and gets really sweaty just after a day sitting at a desk at work.

hahahah. I'm an ocd freak now about undies. My drawer is all laid out in sets ready to just grab whichever ones suit my mood that day, and my gym ones are in the kit drawer with the gym stuff lol

Week days I just open the drawer & grab the 1st pair of knickers & Bra I see. Don't usually have time to sift through for matching. But if I was having a meet or giving hubby a treat I make sure I dig out my sexiest matching sets. I can't feel sexy if not in matching sexy undies.

I am fairly fit... and have to say sweating is nothing to do with fitness levels - I probably sweat more than I did as a fat lass... but I am more active.

And sorry yes I am one of those sweaty messes in the gym, but I go to work out, not look pretty

At 5am when I'm getting ready for work I just grab the first bra and pants I see they aren't always the matching set

If I'm going out I make sure they do but for work I'm lucky I get out the house on time never mind having matching undies on

No, I didn't say that at all. I was talking about day to day - I didn't say anything about the gym. I don't particularly sweat at the gym, but my very fit partner does.

Evidence? Several years of working as a personal trainer. People often told me things about their personal life, and that was something that was commonly remarked on as people got fitter. People often say that they sweated less day to day (at work and so forth) as they got fitter. Not everyone found that of course, but enough people commented that I noticed it.

I don't have to justify that I don't need to wash my clothes that often. I'm a clean person. Actually I feel like it's the other way round - in discussions about washing clothes, towels (as someone above mentioned), bed sheets, it's often those who don't need to wash things that often that are treated as if they are some disgusting creature that doesn't keep themselves clean. Some of us just don't need to wash things that often.

An interesting topic. Everyday wear I rarely match. Special occasions and meets yes I'll make the effort with special underwear and either a coordinating or matching set. Bra and pant sets rarely have knickers I like. I'm not a fan of thongs.

I would rather have a beautiful bra and pants that are not the same pattern or colour, I do tend to go for loud bright patterns and colours, but are beautiful quality, than a matching bra and pants from Asda.

it's all about choice, during the day it doesn't matter if my underwear costs £20 or a £100 only me is seeing it, its still a novelty wearing little dainty stuff without the huge thick straps which is all I could get in my size. Nobody as said anything is wrong is right and not the other, I want dainty stuff that matches you want quality stuff that doesnt.

My beautiful quality stuff I save for when I'm going out otherwise I'd feel to samey samey

They have to match for me, also when I buy suspenders then I need matching bra and panties , I won't buy the set unless I can get bra,sussies and Knix, just more feminine if it all matches like a lady cares and not just thrown something on in the morning.

I once had to go to A&E when I injured my knee and I had really hairy legs and the doctor was gorgeous and I was mortified.

So maybe it's for getting hit by a bus and sustaining more minor injuries rather than serious ones

Don't think I even own a matching bra and knickers set.. im not that clever to think if I get lucky what underwear am i gonna wear. The only thing I think along those lines is to keep it shaved just incase.lol.. And very rare can get a nice set for bigger breast woman anyway..

In everyday I almost never wear matching..cause for my size knickers what matching with bra wont be comfortable enough for work I do.. But when meeting or I dont have knickers at all or they matching..

Or days like today..I have funny print knickers and no bra

Have you tried Asda? Now that I know my size I just pick them up and don't need to try them on. Ive had no problems with sizing
