According to the government and mainstream media, anyone who questions the government and mainstream media is considered to be an extremist.

If you don't agree with bombing Syria you're now a terrorist sympathiser.

Talk about being desperate Cameron, what are peoples thoughts?

Isn't it part of democracy that you can question your government etc.

I don't agree with most of his policies, and certainly not his ideology, but Cameron is usually a lot more politically savvy than to say something so stupid, and to stick to his guns when he has been questioned so many times about that statement in the house today, even by people who support the strikes.

we've been bombing them in Iraq using jets for 14 months or so and using drones with hellfire missiles to engage them in both Iraq and Syria..

wonder if that has anything to do with the thankfully foiled plots stopped thus far..?

for the record this leftie is fully behind any military action to undermine IS, however the ramping up of our further action is a symbolic one for political reasons..

but without troops on the ground it will only have a limited success, certainly with the mess that it is out there with Turkey attacking the Kurd's and Russia attacking anyone opposed to Assad..

there are many flaws in Cameron's current position which had he corrected or could be more precise about (yes its a lot of analysis by experts and guess work given the situation i accept) then he may well have most of the house with him..

So many experts here on the security of our country and the rest of the world. it's amazing how many qualified people there are that have a solution.

So much behind the scenes that never gets into the media, it's called confidential material, so we have to try and trust that someone is making the right decision for us in an attempt to stay safe in this country.

Nothing will ever be ideal, it's life!!! Unfortunately people have different ideas about what peace is.

99.9 % of people would not last 5 mins ( and I do mean 5 mins ) as PM for the Britain. Their job is a thankless task no matter which party is in government.

Just be thankful that we are reasonably civilised in this country and on the whole enjoy our freedom.

Most certainly we all have the right to an opinion in this country. Because of the security and freedom that we have. Some of the poor souls in these war torn countries are not able to live freely in their own country. They too rely on more civilised countries to come to their aid, whether that's bombing thier enemies or sending food and supplies. There is no pain free solution to these troubles and doubt there ever will be. I personally have no idea whether it's right or wrong to bomb these terrorists. Just hope what ever is decided helps to reduce the suffering throughout the world.

I don't think we have thought this through in the long term. Air strikes (and military action) have not solved anything in Iraq in fact it made matters worse. How will it solve issues in Syria? Deash may topple but what then? What happens then? That's what I don't understand.

And yeah I am one of those who cares deeply about the millions of displaced people and the thousands who will die as a direct result of the bombings. Thousands more will die of hypothermia etc.

It's tragic. It's heartbreaking.

As an aside I don't care which politician said what! The humanitarian crisis we face is bigger and more important than politics. Soundbites pale into insignificance from this moment on.

I feel totally helpless and unhelpful
