"I've never really been someone to make a goal and stick to it, so I've never had that sense of achievement, all the usual stuff in everyday life but I wouldn't call them achievements as such. The one thing I am proud of recently is fighting for something I was going to throw away and standing up for myself from a bully that was trying to control my life x " Well that's something to be very proud of

"My personal opinion is that it's completely down to desire. If you want to do it "enough" then you won't be stopped. Cal" this is my way of thinking, but I can't work out why I desire something's more than others. I'm going to start imagining my life as a non smoker and how different it would be

"I find being motivated and staying motivated very difficult even when I can clearly see the end result will benefit me. " Maybe you are more motivated by something else that means you prioritise that rather than the goal you aren't achieving.

"What ever it is I have lost some of it recently. When ever I was on out cycling if I saw someone in front of me I had to chase them down, even if it killed me. It didn't matter if it was on the flat, uphill or what I had to catch them, I would kick myself if I didn't at least try. Now I don't seem to have the instinct anymore." Slacker

"Why are we successful at some things and not others. I'm not talking about academically. Things like running marathons, giving up alcohol, losing weight, quitting smoking. Is it simply about the want and willpower or something more. If its just about willpower then why do we succeed at something's and not others? Is it just a case of not wanting a certain thing bad enough. This is brought on by my ability to have conquered over the years many things but not be able to give up smoking. I'm not attempting to at the moment, I've achieved so much and not going to beat myself up about it. But it is going to be something I want to achieve in the future. " it's about emotion.
