My daughter is leaving London today to move back home to Lincolnshire today. But over the past few months she has got to know a homeless girl who sits outside the store where she worked. Over the time she has bought her coffee, given her food took her to buy food, and given her some of her old unwanted clothes and shoes etc. Today she went into town and went to visit the young girl and explain that she is moving and the girl was very upset to hear the news and thanked my daughter for all she had done. My daughter with the deposit she got back from her flat had booked her a room in a hotel for the night and given her money for food. I thought that was such a kind thing to do. But she has not just booked her in for one night she has booked her in for three nights over Christmas. I sobbed when she told me. as she said it was money worth spending. Like she said who knows it could be her one day in that same situation as the young girl

Iv always been proud of her. But what she has done is beyond me being proud. Not many 24 year olds would think like that. They would thing holidays clothes nights out. She certainly does have a good soul. She says she will continue with this as she has a trusted friend who she will transfer money to one a month to buy the young girl hit food and drinks.

These kind gestures have a habit of returning the favour one day. I do hope that life changes for the homeless girl and she in turn helps others.

I don't think we fully appreciate at times what we have do we,your daughter did a very caring thing and if it wasn't for people like her the country would be in a worst state. Much much more needs to be done for people with no warm home to go to,I myself are guilty of forgetting there's people out there that need basic needs filling when I shut my door at the end of the day.

I remember reading an autobiography some years ago about a woman's early years how she'd overcome all the trauma and poverty she had experienced. The authorities sent her on a weeks holiday to the seaside and all she had to take was the clothes she stood up in and a hairbrush. It made me feel pretty rubbish when I look at my toiletry bag I take anywhere just for an overnight stay. We're programmed to need every little item possible for every part of our body, maybe if we experienced living on the streets we'd quickly realise what was more important especially with Xmas coming and how excessive we are.

Thank you all. I wish I could take all the credit for the way she was raised. But I have my mum and late dad to thank a lot for. Without them guiding me And helping me I don't know how I would have coped. But I do know she has a lot of my good traits. As nearly 6 years ago I gave up everything, my job, my relationship, my social life everything to care for my mum after she had a massive stroke resulting in her being left disabled virtually me having to do everything. So I suppose a lot is how we bring our children up

Op

Your daughter is a wonderful young woman. Your story really touched me .

I helped out at a food bank today, I had not intended too. I was in the local community center. The food bank was in another room . They were short of helpers due to the weather.the people who came were in dire need of support . One young mum had not eaten for two days . She used her food for her children. Her selflessness also touched me so gave her the cash I had planned to buy a good bottle of wine with. Her need was greater . I told her to get something for her self a treat for tonight. She said she would spend it on an electricity card.

Its the time of year to show you care, not just about family and friends but every one. So may I humbly ask you if you have a fee spare quid when shopping , and I know times are tight. Pick up some extra shopping and drop it off at your local food bank . They do such amazing work

little house on the praire

How proud you must be.

The food bank centre is only across the carpark from me but tescos have a trolly about once a month to fill. I spend about £15 and by pasta and tins of soup and basic beans ect, its amazing how much you can get.

I will also do one big shop for them before Christmas and take it to the centre.

I did a good deed yesterday, I sat next to a girl on the train she was about 25 I guess and she had just been released from prison and was on her way home. She didn't say what she had done but served three months, she had lost her home and job but had a friends she could stay at.

The train journey was about an hour and I was just talking to her about not giving up hope and people give second chances and that she could get help. She seemed a pleasant enough person and when she got off seemed more full of hope, I gave her £10 to get some breakfast as that was the only cash I had on me.

I'd love to know that she is going to do OK for herself

It is a wonderful message and a great thing to do. We have helped feed the homeless locally at xmas.

What we hate about London are the number of people pretending to be homeless.

1. At my ex wife's work (a magic circle law firm) they found a trainee on £48k who was making nearly that a week begging at kings cross. He was thankfully released when they found out.

2. We have someone locally who drives to a supermarket. camps down with a sleeping bag and a sign and his dog and again makes a very good living from people who think he is genuinely homeless. We only found out from street life.

Not everyone is as they appear but in this case more impressive is the way that your daughter helped. It is impressive how much time she spent rather than throwing money at the problem carelessly.
