We've got a thread about zombie films but don't seem to have one about vampire films... until now!

Anyone else a fan of vampire movies? I enjoy them, although I've not seen that many.

My favourite is probably Lost Boys, but I think that may be for nostalgic reasons more than anything else.

The other night I watched a Swedish film (no, not that sort!) called Let the Right One In, which was absolutely brilliant. It's a different take on the normal vampire theme. Without wanting to ruin the plot it's more about the lengths people will go for someone they love.

The film has a score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's probably justified. If you're looking for a good film to watch then add this to your list. Don't be put off by the fact it's in Swedish. Hollywood is currently doing a remake for the American market, but I'd recommend sticking to the version directed by Tomas Alfredson.

I have allways Loved Vampire movies ,

frm the hammer ones to some of today's , I have seen ( Let the right one in.) its brill , Its diff, but a great story , tho not in english , its a great film.

the remake came out last year. called let me in, not as good as the swedish version but if you haven't seen that version it does stand as a good film in its own right.

Kathryn Bigelows 'near dark' is a terrific vampire fillum.. Lance Henriksen is great as father figure of a group of vampires murdering their way through the desert..

blade 1 and 2 are both good

my fave is interview with a vampire a clasy movie with some top actors

there is a new one coming out soon and the name escapes me but it stars paul bettany !!

I love vampire films however yes I do like the whole modern look on vampires in films wher they alllllllll!!! seem to be good and fight thier hardest against the urges to drink your blood lol but I think the best films are wher vampires are bad

e.g 30 days of night

but doing a countdown i will put it as

1)the lost boys

2)30 days of night (not the seccond one that was horrible)

3)twilight saga

4)the blade films

5)interview with a vampire

also i just wanted to mention vampire in brooklyn being good

Can't be doing with this latest crop of Buffyesque type high school vampire films.

Much prefer the traditional stuff.

Oh what a fantastic movie.. to be fair I love and always have loved vampire movies.. and the whole deal with them.. I make the house suffer with Vampire diaries, True blood and have read all the twilight books... They are a fantastic read.

Salem's Lot used to scare the crap out of me when I was young

Last good vampire movie was Interview with a Vampire, the twilight sage I think is meant to appeal to the younger generation, never seen any of them and don't plan to.

Other than that.

Lost Boys would be one of my faves too.

I bought Let the Right One In a few weeks again but its all in subtitles

I also love the Twilight Saga :P

Oh and Near Dark and From Dusk Til Dawn.

The Twishite saga are not vampire movies. They are teenage love angst stories.

I read the books, and much preferred the last one, which I'm hoping will make a semi decent film. However, they will most likely dumb it down to suit the young teenage audience that makes them so much money.

Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of vampire films but I see Interview with the vampire has been mentioned a few times.

Nosferatu (the silent original, not the shitty Klaus Kinski one) - has to be number one, it really creeps me out (((shudder)))

Dusk til Dawn - I have the trilogy, the other two are shite however.

There is a vamp filmed advertised on Friday next week. BBC 1, 23.30pm 'Perfect Creature'. Don't know what it is like, am taping it just in case I miss a good vamp film.

I got to say loving the twilight series not as good as the books though, Interview with a vampire mmmm Christian Slater and yes the lost boys. And the classic Dracular and bram stoker. And dont know if its in the same league Constantine and Devils advocate. Aspect of hell and monsters.

There are quite a few that I like. Never seen any of the Twilight films, not keen on those youngish vampires.

fave probably From Dusk til Dawn - love that Titty Twister place.

Bram Stokers Dracula, loved Gary Oldman in this film, those round blue glasses, very sexy

Fright Night was good.

The Hammer Dracula films are great though, Christopher Lee, you cant beat him.

I prefer the 1922 version Nosferatu - Eine Symphonie des Grauens - the images are scary even today
