I believe that there was a tacit agreement with the media that what happened in Ulster stayed in Ulster. This is probably a hangover from those days. " There's been 3 bombs and a shooting already this week in NorthernIreland. There's terrorist actions 4 or 5 times most week but it's more important to deal with terrorism abroad than in the UK. " In the late 60s the English media largely ignored terrorism in Northern Ireland. The IRA ended up spanking their bottom and killed more English than isis has. People forget very quickly it seems. Much easier to deal with a small threat than to let it grow. | |||
