"I wondered what thanksgiving was about. I thought it was about the Plymouth settlers being thankful for surviving. " It was the first few years were very tough for the early settlers, a number died (My family were probably in 2nd and 3rd wave to New England)

"I wondered what thanksgiving was about. I thought it was about the Plymouth settlers being thankful for surviving. " Thanksgiving, when you look at the history of it, is actually rather embarrassing. The earlier settlers couldn't survive the harsh winters in north America so the Indians taught them how to harvest the right crops, and shared their food. The settlers were thankful for that. But then slaughtered all the Indians in subsequent years. We don't talk about the slaughtering now. We just eat the food and give thanks. -Courtney

"Hiya Everyone! As some may already know, back in the US today is Thanksgiving. I know it isn't a British holiday, but indulge me today, please! For me, it is a tradition with friends and family to go around the table and say what we are thankful for. So in that spirit, I am thankful for my friends and family in the US, my new friends in the UK, and for the friends here who offer humor and support. Thank you! What are you thankful for? -Courtney" Happy Thanksgiving Marc and Courtney. I'm thankful I'm alive. There's been a few times when I nearly wasn't. Life is good.
