Because I like children. I love bring around my niece and nephew. it's personal choice I guess but I feel they are the purpose of life, to create more life. I'd probably moan about the lack of sleep and money but those things won't matter really.

Chams or Socials

I never wanted children & was told at 19 I'd never have them naturally due to my medical condition.

I turned 24 & was hit by a desire / craving to have them.

We were in the process of IVF when I found out I'd got pregnant naturally. I have a 5 yr age gap between the 2 which isn't ideal.

Although they're little sods sometimes I wouldn't be without them but I do understand & respect other people's decisions not to have them.

"Unconsciously I guess yes but if I had the choice I'd have kids in a heartbeat. "

Exactly this. And the reason why I would is the maternal side in me would love a child. Not everyone has that feeling and that should be respected. To many people have children because they feel it's their duty to reproduce. There is nothing wrong with not having children but at the same time obviously nothing wrong with having them. It's person choice.

I never wanted children. My eldest was a happy accident and I was blessed, my youngest was planned and she is so lucky to be here.

I understand people who don't want children but I think people seem to expect everyone to want them xx

I heard that our grandparents were brainwashed into it because of WW2.

It's all personal choice and I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone they are selfish or wrong for not wanting children.

I feel most sorry for those who want children but are unable to have them.

I'm childless but not by choice. Trying to have children and the multiple miscarriages is what eventually lead the the demise of my first marriage. This time around the urge to keep trying is strong but the fear of growing apart from my husband is stronger. The liklihood of us ever having a child is tiny and we're not expecting to be blessed.

Adoption is in fact really really difficult. Unlike popular opinion, you cannot just decide to adopt and be given a child, only a tiny minority of applications are accepted. My ex husband and I were rejected when we applied five years ago, all because I had a bad credit card debt when I was 19!

See I disagree with that. You can have kids you have choices. Use protection, adoption etc.

You can't have kids there's little you can do its hardly the same...

It wasn't that, my sister in law adopted two boys while having massive credit debt and ccj's.

In fact she only started fostering to get out of debt, but ended up falling for them and keeping them x

I really don't think that the head of Nottingham City Council children's services is in a position to tell lies when asked why they are rejecting applications as the decision can be challenged in court!

Yet I hear an advert on the radio which states how it's a great career choice and tempts people in by telling them how much they could get for each child they foster. I hate that advert.

I don't like children and have no interest in being pregnant, so I was surgically steralised.
