Went to bed one night and left my phone on charge (the wire was a bit dodgy so had to position it right or the charging symbol went off). Woke up the next day and it's dead as a nail. Bought two new wires and still not charging, Googled and it said it may be the charging port so got this changed and still no good. Any ideas anyone? Did have the phone on Ebay but had to end the item. Also it's run out of warranty, not sure if to sell it as spares or if it's a simple fix.....

Take it to a phone repair stall in a market if you've got one.

Had mine done, cost £20 or £25 can't quite remember, only takes an hour or so

Newcastle and Gateshead

it could be the cable (have you cleaned the points at the end?)..... it could be the actual point.....

i'd take it to an apple store for "an opinion" before they do anything

From what he's saying, having tried multiple chargers, it's most likely the charging port, they aren't the most robust things. It's probably corroded from moisture.

Knackered mine from using my phone in the bath.

A repair shop will be able to tell him what's wrong and be a hell of a lot cheaper than taking it to Apple.

And if you're selling it you want to keep repair bills down.

The charging port has been changed, the only other thing I can think of is the battery but not sure if a faulty battery would stop the charging symbol coming on when the charger is plugged in????

Have you tried plugging it into your pc to see if it recognises it?

The charging point is probably full of fluff or dust , give it a blast with some air or try a vacuum , failing that some cyber putty is great

Yes I have plugged it into my laptop and still dead. I bought a Samsung hence the reason I had the iPhone on Ebay to try and get some money back, looks like a departing kick from Apple
