Worst live band performance..??

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Following on from my earlier thread about first live band..

Who have you seen that were a major disappointment?

Maybe in terms of a shitty performance or even sound so poor it ruined it?

What makes it even worse is that unlike in my youth when you bought your ticket and maybe a few weeks later went to the gig these days they sell them ludicrously early in order to make loads of interest investing the ticket money so the sense of anti-climax when it turns out shit is even worse.

Mine?

A festival on pissing down day in Finsbury park headlined by Aerosmith about 10 years ago.

My first band then my worst as they were shockingly out of tune that day. My deepest suspicions are they or at least one or two of them were wasted that day.

It was absolutely gutting.

Anyone else...??

I can honestly say after all the random concerts I've been too in the past 23 years I've never had a bad one yet!

The only one that was the 'worst' for me was oasis back in 1996 I think, I was meant to go with my friend to see them in Exeter but due to me being a stupid teenager and bunking off work and getting caught my leave wasn't allowed!! What was even worse travis who were supporting them were staying at the same bloody hotel that we booked and my friend who still went with out me sat up drinking with them!

Saw Sabbath very early 70s in Bham. 3 hours we were kept waiting although they were in the venue all the time (Top Rank Suite). Eventually came on pissed and stoned and were sheer garbage, ususl sheep were still throwing peace signs etc. Talk about a forced and contrived reaction from the audience. Thanks Ozzy you fake.

Was the no Slash lineup and Axle had lost the plot. Nearly an hour late on stage, voice was not what it was and he spent more time off stage between songs than on it!!

Underwhelmed.

Thankfully I have seen Slash when he toured as part of Velvet Revolver and they were amazing live x

Whitespace?

I assume you mean Whitesnake and are referring to Coverdale?

I have thought when I've heard them live in the last few years that while his power hasnt necessarily gone it's just become a more high pitched screech than a the full on roar of old.

The band still rock tho.. But on the balance of things I'd say pack it in.

Not quite as embarrassing a spectacle as Ozzy but still a saddening sight none the less.

Amy Winehouse during one of her really bad states. She stood on stage scratching her legs while her backing singers sang. Still quite the spectacle.

The Streets. Just after Mike Skinner came out of rehab and was sober. He said himself on stage he didn't know how to perform sober so he stood there with a cup of tea looking a bit sheepish. He then forgot the words to his own song so sing some Britney Spears instead. Then threw himself into the crowd hoping to surf but no one really carried him.

Kings of Leon, on one of the occasions I've seen them, Caleb was clearly in a sulk and it came across the whole show. The atmosphere was awful.

Ian Brown is hit and miss. I saw him when he was having a miss day. Cringe.

Isley Brothers.

We had a choice of seeing them at the Royal Albert Hall or Fairfield Hall Croydon, we went to the Albert Hall: the tickets cost a fortune!

Well the warm up acts were crappy and not anyone we knew. They were on stage about ninety minutes and we were getting pissed off. When they finally came on stage they didn't sing one complete song, just melodies of all their hits.

Forty five minutes later, they were taking their bow after taking us all for a ride.

Albert Hall?!! I wouldn't go and see them in the local Kingdom Hall for free!

I saw Amy Wine Warehouse at Eden Project, that girl was a total fuck up! It wasn't just that she was totally shit and off her tits...but her contempt for the audience was appalling! We were polite and didn't heckle her. But she clearly didn't give a shit and didn't want to be there.

What gets me is bands have done drugs and drink through out their careers and they still managed to hold it together and perform!!

I ruined a gig for Reginald D Hunter, his gig was that bad I got up, he asked me where I was going, so I told him I was going for a drink with the warm up guy, as he was funny-despite being canadian, and his entire act was about bears.

I also wound up Jimmy Carr, convinced him I was a deep sea welder during a gig

Doesn't that decline in her live performance mirror her records?

I love some of her older material even tho at heart im a metalhead but I have to say her last couple have been crap..basically the moment she stopped bothering with songs and it became all about dance music.

I've seen her perform the newer stuff and it just doesn't come over so well and its like two different shows.
