you must all bw wondering what happend to that guy and his big conifer, did he break his kneck tryin

Well no I didn't I did a decent job off pruning it, got loads off without any injuries, but decided it was to dangerous for me to try and drop the main trunk,

Had a knock at the door yesterday tree guys working a few gardens down spotted it and wanted to giver a quote for it, so he had a look and said £250 to cut down and remove it, so I thought sod it that's a good price, so after living with it for 25 years, it is finally gone

hung onto a ton of logs for my mates log burner, save him a few quid lol.

Very sensible you have done everything right except keeping the logs. I don't want to ruin your day, but your mate will probably curse the free conifer logs when his chimney tars up or catches fire. Fir logs are the worst for tar and resin even after years of curing, sorry !

We need the top taken off 4 conifers at bottom of garden if you like.. one of them needs at least 10ft off. £250 is a hell of alot to take one down tho

Well my advice is get it done before they get to big, £250 was ok in my eyes, about 4/5 years ago before I had done anything to it, I had two people quote me to cut it down, was said £400 the other was £420 now that I thought was bloody expensive.

I remember this thread too, it was about last spring? ...

.......uncanny; - the problem sprung in the spring & fell in the fall!!

I am left with the stump, it will rot away over time my mate has a log burner so he has done ok out of it lol
