I hope it's respected, then as tragic as the events are a line can be drawn and we move on. Never to be forgotten, of course, but normality must be resumed.

Titz Towers, North Notts

It's a nice gesture of solidarity. However, I do wish that society valued the dead from other countries as highly.

"It's a nice gesture of solidarity. However, I do wish that society valued the dead from other countries as highly. "

I'd also question if it's genuinely meant. Or if it's simply a way to exercise pre-existing feelings.

Acts such as these are for those who want to offer support or share grief to show their emotions sensibly, as always they're voluntary and - as long as the sentiment isn't scorned - then nobody minds if a person doesn't want to join in. It is a personal statement.

What makes the French national anthem - La Marseillaise - so suitable is it's words for, though written for a "tyranny" long since gone, it would make a fitting universal "anti-terror" anthem.

Thoroughly agree. If they don't do it for another terror attack does it mean they don't care that time?

I went to the England match and sang along to the Marseilles too. Immaculately respected around the stadium.
