Anyone know any good methods for quitting?

Mine are always ruined and half the time I don't even realise I've been doing it till later on.

Also you know below the nail where the skin is (cuticle?) Is it biting that makes that bit peal?

Or is that something else?

Get divorced! For some reason I stopped in January once ex and I decided to separate, though I have no idea why that would affect the compulsion to bite my nails.

Sorry, that's not much help.

I'm no expert but I know you can by some stuff you paint on your nails that make it taste disgusting so you realise what you were doing.

As for the skin I'm fairly certain I read it was due to dehydration. Could be wrong though.

Brighton - even Hove!

Smear washing up liquid on them.

Chew on a pen.

Put plasters around all your fingers.

You can buy an anti nail biting polish that tastes foul. That is what i used when i was younger. It worked for me and broke the habit. Sadly it didn't stop me sucking my thumb.

I tend to cut my cuticle as I'm a picker I get my nails done every two weeks but still pick.

I use nails scissors cut them away and then use nail oil to keep them soft.

You could try that stuff you buy to stop u biting and it tastes foul, or someone one told me every morning cut a slice of chilli and rub it around the edges of your nails.

I bit my nails for years, I'd bite all the skin off round the nails too, they looked horrible, I'd keep my hand in a fist all the time because I didn't like them and I knew how horrible they looked and if I'd meet guys I didn't want my hands to put people off

It's just a habbit, you don't even realise your doing it half the time

I tried really hard to stop but failed for many years but I did eventually, I haven't bit them for about 10 years now, they were really weak at first but they are getting stronger, its just will power, like any other habbit, its bloody hard though

Hypnosis - job done. Choose your therapist carefully: there is no reason for it to take more than one quick session.

I saw a video close-up of my hands playing an instrument years ago and my hands looked disgusting so I just stopped biting them. After years of the whole nasty tasting nail biting stop type stuff where I did a Nell and just put up with the taste to get at the nail. Every now and then when they get long I allow myself a tiny nibble before I cut them short again. Just for kicks.

"... someone told me every morning cut a slice of chilli and rub it around the edges of your nails.

But when he gets his cock out, for the loo etc, his cock's going to get very hot. It may work as a good method to stop wanking though.

I love it, i think it has chilli in or something.

Dunno how you stop biting your nails, i still do it. But biting your nails shouldn't cause your cuticles to peel.

I used to bite mine as a child, stopped around teenage years.

The only thing that stopped me from doing it was taking care of them. I'd file, buff, cut my cuticles and moisturise. I found once there were no sharp edges or rag nails, I wouldn't be tempted. Plus it would ruin the effort I put in.

I was an absolutely cronic nailbiter nearly all my life and bit them so far down the nail was almost completely gone.

I suddenly just decided to stop about five years ago when I decided to sort a few other things out at the same time such as my weight and lifestyle etc.

My nails are much better but still very weak and quite pale but I'm hopeful they'll strengthen over time as yours have.

Is there anything you can do to encourage that??

My suggestion is no good for guys but worked well for me and may help other girls. I stuck false nails on mine with superglue. They looked so nice and the plastic tasted funny so I stopped biting them overnight. Also found I'm less likely to bite the skin around them if I keep it moisturised as it doesn't pick/peel as satisfyingly as dryer skin

They make sweets that taste the same as it, called fireballs.

I noly bite mine to tirm them now, used to bite them dead short. Did stop biting them, no idea how, but they're 'flakey' now so need trimming anyway.

Is it something you have always done? If so it will be a hard habit to break.

If you haven't always done it, then do you only do it at certain times/thinking about certain things? As biting nails is common when stressed/anxious.

I didn't find the nail varnish stuff worked for me, but it does taste vile so may be worth a go.

As for the skin peeling, the cold has a massive impact on that so worth getting some cream for it, but don't pick it as it'll make it worse

Hereabouts

I still bite mine :-/ I managed to stop for about 2 or 3 weeks.. but then I got stressed about something and bit all of them all the way down until they bled :-/ I'm getting better now and not biting them as often. That stop and grow nail varnish stuff was rubbish, I just put up with it so I could bite... as a kid, hairspray worked for a while... I dunno why it was stopped though.

I used to bite mine until started doing building work. I got so much dirt under my fingernails, there's no way on earth Id put them in my mouth. When you get the urge, just think about the bacteria underneath those little beauties, if that don't stop you, nothing will!

I've never bitten ma nails, but I used to bite the skin around them, especially when I had cut ma nails and had just got out of the bath. It made them quite sore sometimes

Not done it for years now though
