I think it's time for a new job. It's been time for a new job for me for a while. I'm bored here. It's been almost 10 years. Time for a new challenge. Only I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Did you have a career in mind while you were at school? Did you follow it up and that's what you're doing now? Or did you do something else completely? If you could have any job, what would it be?

I always wanted to be an archaeologist when I was little.

But when I discovered you needed to be intelligent to archaeolog I quickly changed to being an artist/pocket fluff researcher.

I spent too many years in my 'career' and ended up getting sick of it, so then started to work for myself and still don't see it as my final destination job wise.....

I wanted to be a midwife. My mother was a nurse, all my aunts were nurses, I grew up wathing Young Doctors and Angels and wanted to be a nurse, so started to train to become a SRN.

No one told me about old, sick people!!! No one told me what you had to do to dead bodies and when one of the porters locked me in the mortuary for "a laugh" I knew it was time to call it a day!

I then changed tactics to teach and became a college lecturer for a while...angry young people on YTS courses weren't fun either...so I retrained again.

In my current job I was working in employment law, now it's personal injury.

If I could have my dream job it would be dresser to Daniel Craig...he wouldn't even have to pay me!!!

I wanted to be an actor.. but was too shy.

Art school then went to work for a Telco in a temp clerical role. Got into management and progressed. Loved everyday but knew when the time was right to leave.

Doing consultancy now and working less hours...

and happy

ps... wasnt good enought to make money as an artist, so would have ended up a teacher... and me and brats wouldnt mix well. Too similar

I'm thinking of a change too. My job isn't that bad..but saying that, it's not great either. For me it's the unfairness/favouritism that I cannot abide within our team and ifyou say anything..well, you may as well dig your own grave!!

wanted to be a fashion designer but got pushed into commercial, then decided to go for teaching but couldn't stand the discipline at school. left fully qualified to work as a "secretary" got bored and stymied and went back to college and did design. worked in design until I started my new job as mum and housewife and eventually by turns of fate ended up as a teacher. love teaching, doesn't pay very well but can't imagine a more enjoyable job.

Seriously... this is my problem, it's the same everywhere.

It's not helped by the fact that I share a room with three (apologies in advance) menopausal women who currently have the air con on and the window open - yes it's still January in my world and I'm not having a hot flush every five minutes and whilst that's sucky for them, put your fan on, I don't want to freeze my tits off indoors on a daily basis.

And the daily lunchtime chat of "what are you having today" is doing my nut in. It's not a fucking sangwich... it's a SANDWICH!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a poet! At the age of 10 I wrote a poem for the school paper, but Mr Bell said I had copied it because it was too good to be my work.. Put me off for years..

Went into the motor trade and then into Logistics... Not too bad but then started my own business in the tool trade and loved it. Some of our friends believe that I am still doing that, but I decided to go back to basics.. I am now a published Author/Writer.. No fookin money in it, but I love it.

That will come as quite a shock to one on here!! We sat around discussing a manuscript he was reading for the publisher he works for. It was my manuscript for my next book and he liked it.. Look forward to it being published (as a netbook)

(Now just need to get back out selling tools to be able to live!

Yeah, it is an option that my publisher is looking at. Meantime I have just finished a radio play for submission next week. Doing a tad of "polishing" today along with rechecking real life facts that play a part. Still not a lot of money in it, but it is great when you hear "your" work on national media
