So I rarely watch the news but I've been bored and watching the Paris attacks.

Is it just me or is there a sort of morbid glee about which the news stations are aproaching this each trying to out do the others with the most emotive language the most brutal and grotesque descriptions of the attacks.

Interviews with survivors getting every gorey little detail about how they crawled under bodies and what they saw and felt.

I'm not sure if this is just me and my relative "naivety" to the news because I seldom watch it bit it seems far too rubber necking. Some journalists seem excited standing in front of restaurants describing the drive bys etc.

When exactly did our news become a feature where we celebrate and focus upon the suffering and death of others as a form of entertainment

Cannibal Holocaust ( very hard to watch but terrifyingly true ) described these scenarios graphically and succinctly.

Gore porn is exactly what it is.

Was watching it last night and was so appalled at the descriptive nature I actually turned over and watched an episode of The Wire for a little lighter viewing.

I'm in no way soft but as I have got older I don't like the world and its contents.

I hate it and its a one of the reasons I don't watch the news.

I can remember when the gunman in Belgium Was killed and reports showed his dead body lying on the floor and thinking 'why do I need to see that?'

I'm talking about the media in general trying to play up how bad things are against each other for more listeners.

It kind of does. Some people crave this stiff so news channels have deemed to show more and more graphic images and change their reporting styles etc to give instant gratification and images that are more and more risqué

a loud explosion was heard-is a report.

the explosion(pause) echoed around the streets, instilling fear and a sense of loom- just over the top for me.

My thinking is they feel they have to show us how bad these atrocities are. They no longer sugar coat it and want to fire us up to make us as angry as possible about what happened. I have wondered if they have a bank of questions they delve into or it's off the cuff questioning.

I dip into the news breifly as I cannot stomach they style of delivery in some instances. In others I cannot stand the bias or complete worldly bulls#it.
