I'm undecided. I used to love it. Then we had a proper shitty year with family being twats and it really turned me against it. I want to like it but I struggle when it starts in August.

I don't hate it, well actually I think I do here's why:

When you have kids it's 'magical' until a certain age: NO!! All that happens is the true spirit of Christmas is lost no matter how hard you try (bloody grandparents!), the stuff they do get, gets left round the house, trodden on and broke, you go bankrupt for January, only because you've bought so much food to feed a small country and don't get me started on 'whose coming to who', how many fucking chairs your missing. And that thing where your kids get up insanely early?! Nope not mine for the past 14 years I've had a lie in on Christmas Day

Then they get older, still you want a simple Christmas but instead of the grandparents buying large toys with those ties in and batteries they get the latest gadgets and who has to pay for monthly subscriptions? Us!!! Not to mention now I've split from the kids dad, I've got that awkward thing of having to spend the day with his mother who hasn't really liked me ever.

And don't get me started with those fucking Christmas adverts?!!

I'm going for a picnic on Brighton beach anyone want to come with me and eat sandwiches and be all hum bugs together?!

I can get some pleasure from Christmas and it gives me a good reason to escape the UK in winter.

But generally not into a long drawn run-up to it, nor all the overdone hype and crap. If it was quiet and subtle, I'd be more in favour of it. But I did love it as a kid.

Christmas depresses me because I'm on my own without my partner and family, I've spent the last eight Christmases alone. BUT every year I force myself to look on the bright side, I'm alive, I've got two days off work, I can sleep in as long as I like, I don't have to endure the company of relatives I don't like, I can eat all the quality streets, no one will make me eat brussel sprouts, I choose what to watch on telly AND I can make Christmas dinner for my cats and hang stockings on the mantle for them with hand made presents inside.....and no one is around it witness the crazy cat ladyness......so it's not all bad!

In light of recent events I shall count myself lucky to be alive to celebrate spending a day with family.

"Christmas is no longer a fun period for me, due to personal reasons. I'm quite glad when it's all over. It's not a great time. I used to absolutely love it as a kid though."

"Is it just me who is a miserable bugger that can't stand Christmas.

If not do come on in.

Guess I'll be staying out then

I love Christmas; especially Christmas Eve; it has a special 'magical' quality for me

On a personal note i love Christmas. but sadly my dad is in a bad way and may not see the new year.

i have had other relatives and a good friend die around Christmas time. it doesn't make me dislike christmas as when i think of them i think of the good times. This more so if my dad doesn't make it as he loved christmas so much and always made it special when we were kids

I hate it until I've brought for everyone then the stress disappears and elation fills its place! Then I realise I haven't wrapped them! Which by the way unless it's s square/rectangle box I'm rubbish at which makes no sense when I like origami! Lol

Get the right wrapping paper and there's lots of pretty flowers around though!
