Having started to read the forums with some intrest a few weeks ago (never bothered befor that) I have noticed there is a hard core of posters who clearly know each other well aqnd bounce off each other. At times this is very funny and entertaining, some threads are also very innocent and caring, but no matter how they all start, they very quickly decend into complete abuse of the OP. (Yes I am aware that I am opening myself up for this and bring it on if you must) but it really puts new people off from joining in the thread for fear of being attacked I am sure. To all you other readres, and not normally posters, do you agree???

Why the need to be so nasty, if you don't agree with the OP by all means say so, but cut the abuse x

No one deserves to be abused. Just need to hit the report button and the mods will take action.

Simples!

And before anyone shouts "cliques", I truly do not believe such thing exists!

OK, some of us have met each other though social events and are friends.

However, there are those who are friends even if we have not met them, and they become friends by the fun and games via the forums and PMs.

Newbies should take a bold step and dive in.

Having a thicker skin certainly helps. Keep postining and sooner or later one will be noticed.

Funny easy going optimistic peeps go down better and easier than snipey, sarcastic, negative ones. That much is true in real life too IMHO.

At the end of the day, those of us so called forums regulars were newbies once, and were strangers to each other until we met.

So dive in, and have fun on FAB!

You are obviously referring to the FAB clique. Members of which will vehemently deny its existence

But there are some of us who know that it does exist and rail against it from time to time

in a n open forum there is little you can do about posters ..in the main the forum regulars are great...OK some can be a little acerbic but mostly they make you smile. people shouldnt be afriad to post...at the end of the day any replies are just words on a screen and if they are really abusive there is always the report button solution ..id advise anyone to join in but BEWARE THEY ARE ADDICTIVE ....

Some of these people have met eachother in real life a number of times... is that what you mean by clique?

If people are intimidated by other people knowing eachother... then they won't want to fit in anyway will they.

It never puts me off... fuck the lot of them if they disagree with me.

I've been a member here for a while... I can't actually remember how long but I've never really been much of a prolific poster so when I barged in here before Christmas and parked my arse, I knew a few people from other places but I generally didn't know any of the forum regulars.

I can't say I know many of them personally now but I've had a lot of banter over the last few weeks and a bit of chat in PM. If it was a clique then I guess that makes me in it now. Not how I see it... I just see a bunch of people all over the country having a bit of banter and nonsense to pass the time.

Generally the people who complain about cliques are those who don't perceive themselves to be in them. It's just about having a bit of a carry on from where I'm sitting.

There are mods here to ensure the abuse, if any, is dealt with and they do that without any big deal from what I can see. I guess you need a sense of humour, a thick skin and the ability to give as good as you get. I have more respect from people who stand up for what they believe in yet have the ability to hear other people as well as listen. I don't think there are 'attacks' as you call them... I think too often humour can be misinterpreted as abuse and whilst it may be close to the bone and perhaps cutting it fine on occasion, rather than flounce or get defences up, people need to take it on the chin and give it right back.

Sink or swim, people can choose, no one is forcing anyone to participate in the forums if they don't feel like it.

However, one should give the forums a try for him/herself, rather than to rely on feedbacks/comments from other people.

Afterall, one person's medicine is another person's poison!

I disagree that the threads quickly decend into complete abose of the OP. This can sometimes happen but is by no means the norm.

New people are not attacked, it's just that when you are new you are more sensitive. I felt I was ignored a lot when I was new but realised that was not the case cos I am still ignored a lot!!!!

I just think the key to a forum is not to take any of it personally or too seriously. Most of the people on Fab have NOT met each other, so it's just a load of avatars and words on a computer screen for most.

In my time on here I have seen abuse, but I do believe it's on the decrease. Regular posters seem much less willing to tolerate it (whether directed at them or not).

Absolutely agree - there is so obviously a close clique on the forums - it's just not worth even trying to get involved.

It's a great shame, because on other sites (of all sorts) the forum is usually a vibrant, interesting and entertaining place to use...

Here, if anything sensible, entertaining or intelligently humerous is posted, it always, but always quickly descends into a childish parody...

And of course - the same people will now crop up on here to deny it, and to put up so many pointless posts that the original subject is drowned...

If someone wants to be bold with the whole clique thing... they should list who the clique are and why they think these users are in it and why they are not... would be good to read.

I actually partially agree with the OP,I think on occasion it does go too far and I repeat on occasion. People sometimes just don't know when to stop.

But there is also an element that sit on the sidelines under different usernames, people who have left following arguements and have come back with the primary objective of starting threads to cause trouble. Some regulars spot them much quicker and report them and call them on it.

so to the OP ...welcome x

To the OP, I've been on the site just over a year, but only started reading and subsequently posting on the forums about six months ago.

I don't agree with the attacking people comment, if that happens, it gets sorted very quickly, by the mods and they do a good job.

As for the rest, its like someone said earlier, treat it a bit like the bar of your local and you won't go far wrong!

If people post boring, repetitive or obviously attention seeking threads, as in real life, they get ridiculed, same as any bar or office, methinks.

FYI, I started off with the occasional post, and have now been to socials and made friends with some of the forum members, so what have you really got to lose, come on in!

We (virtually) don't bite!

double edged sword... because without the regular posters there is no forum to begin with...

like the others have said, I treat this the way I would a pub, and I have never been in a pub where people have never seen a person in, and embrace them in on there first ever visit....

actually I think that the problem is partly newbies who jump in with both feet and take offence if anyone has the termerity to disagree... then the "victim" card is played

as forums go... this is actually quite tame...you should come with me to my alma maters forum, that is wild....

If you perceive there is a closed clique then I fear it is in your head. There are a few pods which crop up from time to time… small clusters of friends.

I have never let other people knowing each other stop me from saying anything I have wanted to.

I don’t go to the socials as I have no interest in socialising with the general population of the forum and I haven’t exchanged any PM’s with the vast majority. Oddly I am sometimes accused of being part of the clique… which I find highly amusing because I disagree with any post I disagree with, regardless of who posted it. Yet it seems if someone else agrees with my disagreement, then we must be in a clique…. ffs I can’t be the only one who is right all of the time, someone will eventually agree with me on something or another.

So back to your perception... who does it say more about really?

I put a thread on yesterday was was warned by other forums that I should be ready to battle cause of what I said, and guess what? The only clique anyone really needs to be in, is the one between our own thoughts and our own ability to assemble those thoughts into something that comfortably works for us as individuals...

As for worrying whether or not they should match with any of the many interestingly random people who also frequent these forums with varying levels of regularity,it shouldnt be an issue... for no other reason those people are here for other than that fact they also enjoy listening to your opinions and observations whilst taking oppertunities venting some of their own,,,

The whole process should not need intellectually dissecting,,, and simply be enjoyed for the fun it is,,,,,

I found that if you want to join in then join in. As said earlier, treat the forums like going to a bar. If you walk into a pub, buy a drink and go sit in the corner and watch everyone else socialising up at the bar you are going to think they are all cliquey!!

I've dived in a bit recently after finding the regulars are a funny bunch with a caring side when it counts. I posted a thread as I was feeling a bit uncomfortable about my 'baby belly' a few weeks back... Now thanks to this bunch anyone that gives me oral gets a mighty fine slap on the head by wobbly bits!!!

I wonder if there is a "law", like Godwins law for what the op is describing. If not we need to give it a name and copyright it!

Also the issue of 80% of communication been non-verbal doesn't help in a forum.

You are intelligent , good humoured AND naked...... you'll do.

Actually you've just joined in without making unsubstantiated accusations so that's a pretty good bonus too.

yup it has gone well

just wish the clique mentioners would hang around, rather than throw in the 'C' word and then go off line "

"Absolutely agree - there is so obviously a close clique on the forums - it's just not worth even trying to get involved.

"

I have to laugh at this because its a pile of tosh. Fab forums are far more active than most, 1k a month threads prove that and a large number of members.

The clique is just BS as i see it. I was a bit bitter when i first came on the forums because your trying to fit in and it isnt always easy. I was guilty of using the word clique to have a go at people i didn't like but when i did meet people off the forums i realised i had it wrong.

What you get is people on the forums who have met at socials and this is not a clique but it is what you call "friends" i do wonder if people who use the clique term are the sort who live on line and don't have real life friends

You find cliques everywhere unfortunately...we have always gone with the notion that the beat way to get over/around/beat them is to join them...ok..thats not easy on here. But it might be a solution..and the outcome might be that its not as cliquey as you first thought..

That said...

Obviously people know each other and will respond to each others various comments..but where we dont necessarily fell its that cliquey here theres a definite case of 'we dont know you so fuck your comment, we'll disregard that and answer our friends one instead..very much like the chatrooms when you are trying to make conversation or join in.

Can you explain to me how that works ???

If YOU oppose a point of _iew you are simply stating your point.

If SOMEONE else disagrees with you they are part of a clique ???

Aren't they merely in their own home typing on their own computer and actually responding to what you said ?

I defo can see what you mean. It is very similar to chat. I think it is easier in chat... well especially Scotland and Wales chat, as many have met each other. In the forums... I have met Femme & Big Bad at a party, Laine, Stunna & BB430 of some of the most regular posters.

thats it.. Will hopefully meet many more tho , until then, bantering in the forum will continue.

Fair point actually..but we often get the impression that theres a slight case of 'what would you know'...(as non swingers) when it comes to commenting..yeh sure, we cant really comment on gang bangs, orgies, parties, clubbing or some aspects of swinging itself, so we dont...thats not to say though that we dont have an inkling on what is going on outside number 99 Vanilla street..

"Having started to read the forums with some intrest a few weeks ago (never bothered befor that) I have noticed there is a hard core of posters who clearly know each other well aqnd bounce off each other.

Why the need to be so nasty, if you don't agree with the OP by all means say so, but cut the abuse x"

I took 3 months off the forums after having to report people for the levels of personal abuse towards me.

Been back a week, mostly reading and alls I can say is that it's much nicer now - go figure. Some of the "major players" appear to have either left or stopped posting.

It can be quite daunting posting a thread/joining in when you are a newbie to the forum's & some peeps have made me feel more welcome than others but that does not mean they are being funny it is just who they are... take peeps for who they are and don't take things personally

ive been posting for a while now - cant recall if its 6 months or 7! but i can honestly say i prefer the forums to the chat

i can take it at my own pace etc

i have also been on the receiving end of some critical posts - but no big deal - my opinions were in contrast to those people and they expressed it - some nicer than others - and i certainly didnt hold back in my _iews

i dont consider myself in a clique on here or to have a group of friends i banter with - but thats mainly because i havent been to any of the socials and havent met many from the forums - if i did i might approach them differently

hope you still join in as its lovely to see new people in here - and i loved your footsteps thingy

What a muppet thing he said lol!!! As for you, you do realise that the only way to settle this one will be to post us (me, I mean) a video of you taking off that uniform and showing us (me again) that your fully naked body matches your fully clothed pic. I really can't see you getting any more action on here unless you have gone through the trouble

And of course when someone feels left out of something it can be far easier to blame the people perceived as being part of the something than look a little closer to home (inwardly) at their own inadequacies/insecurities/limitations.

It’s not uncommon for some people who want to be part of something to almost begin to envy it and then point out the thing they want as being a weakness or negative… because they are not part of it. It’s kind of another version of rejection issues. You’ll also see examples of it in the working environment … “all the managers are wankers up their own arse” said by the person you know would don that tie and suit at the drop of a hat IF they were only asked… but they will also be the last people to do something positive to earn a promotion.... because once they start trying, they have to face up to possible failure. So it becomes easier to slag of the managers and deny wanting to be one.
