Hi I don't know if it's actually can be decribed as revenge porn so to speak but if you Skype someone can you keep what you have done?

My ex husband got talking to this unbelievably attractive woman on the book of face and some how she managed to get him to Skype with her, he never done it before (and won't again) and it didn't 'go well' shall we say.

She is now threatening to said said footage to everyone in his friends list 'because she likes to ruin lives'

Just wondering if this is possible.

Thanks in advance X (he has reported her and deactivated his account before anyone asks)

Yes, that is why you shouldn't show your face on Skype, lower body is ok, yeah there are video programs you can record the screen with.

"It's possible, I would report it to the police."

Even if she comes from France?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

If she's asking for anything to prevent this, then yes the police will be interested in blackmail. Ask her for a snippet of the footage as proof.

If she's not, I'd doubt she really had recorded anything.

Apple's OSX comes loaded with it, Quicktime has a screen record mode, so its a lot easier than people think - you don't need specialist software. Windows may have similar.

You can image snapshot any computer screen and I believe you can record them on video too.

Keep the chat messages/mail etc for obvious evidence reasons.

Put _ed faced stuff & shame aside and involve the old bill.

Had it happen to us on a different site, the lady in question took a more than healthy liking to my other half. When I put a stop to it, she threatened us with a comprising pic. Luckily she took it no further, if she had I would have called the police

There's programs that allow you to record screens, however, to pursue, you have to understand that it will have to be discussed with your local police and police in France. However, stuff can be done because Skype requires address, and if there's payment involved for subscription, a c_edit card which is usually linked to c_edit ratings under EU guidelines, and is therefore traceable.

Hopefully that helps, and things resolve in yours and your exes favour, but it's a long process.

It appears to be quite now but who knows. Thanks for your help

As our friends in the Head Quarters of GC etc know only too well, anything transmitted via the internet can be sto_ed and reviewed. This also includes making such things available to others.

Once you put your image out there, you need to assume that it's not private any more. There isn't really any capability that I'm aware of that would allow stuff to self-destruct in 5 seconds, as on mission impossible, and never be resumed to pristine condition.

I would have got him to contact all the people in his contact list warning them that someone may be attempting blackmail: he doesn't need to add more detail than that. If they are alerted and adjust their settings so that only people that they know can contact them, that would also potentially prevent someone unknown from sending materials across.

As others say, the police can also be helpful. They can provide advice as well as take action.

All that would do is get people gossiping.

No one is going to alter their face book experience because one of their friends is an idiot.

First off, in very sorry that someone has done this to you I've been through a similar experience which went on for months and made me very depressed and I suffe_ed with anxiety. Don't let it get that far for yourself.

Second, keep everything! Conversations etc.

Third try explaining how its making you feel (keep this too, you itll show the police that they are cyber bullies if they don't back off after that).

If doing that still doesn't stop them go straight to the police even if you don't want people knowing (as I didn't) you could ask them to give the person or people a warning that should be enough to put a stop to it all.

Good luck and I hope you're able to get it sorted. Sending you hugs and support xx

I'm still amazed that people do this kind of thing where strangers can have access to their friends and families. Mindboggling to say the least. Hope you manage to get it sorted OP and hopefully a lesson learned.
