What do you do to be safe when you meet people for the first time?

Any tips ?

We take the safety thing very serious...

Extra pillows, scatter cushions.. padded headboard the whole nine yards.

Not sure what the others do...

I think safety perhaps goes beyond just what might happen at the first meet. Something to consider, for example, is not leaving the meeting and driving away first - means you can be followed home, for example. No point in arranging a meeting in a public place, to later inadvertently reveal your home address.

Meet in a familiar place.

Make sure your route to your car/bus/train is busy and well lit.

The old txt or call me at x time to a friend.

Chat a bit with them before meeting them.

Don't flirt or be suggestive if it's just a meet and greet.

Say clearly when your about to go, nice to meet you, I will chat more on msn/fab,phone etc.

The panic alarms things are a good idea.

Obviously as a couple we don't have the same safety issues as single people...but does anyone ever take a friend along and they sit in another part of the pub etc?

Your kidding... had a massive row with the guy from a couple who on a first meet, just to get to know before going to a party took it on himself to touch up Mrs Notts in the pub.. or try to!!

He soon learned just cause he was a big roughly toughty soldier his arse gets kicked just the same as everyone elses..

No ones 100% safe eh...

so you don't recommend taking a soldier with you then ?

How about an armed soldier, bit harder to kick them up the arse, isn't it ?

Most are decent so wouldn't need one...

Doubtful they'd be armed in the pub now eh.. that is just silly pmsl!

Cocky and arrogant isn't a nice trait no matter what profession....

Oh yeah I know no one is 100% safe, I just meant we don't go alone so are a bit less vulnerable.

I take precautions very seriously: If she's a big girl I usually tie me foot to the sink.

I think it must be a lot easier as a single male on first meets. Although i do wonder sometimes turning up on a strange doorstep whats behind it.

but i like to think im a good judge of caricature and have chatted on the phone a few times first. If i was a single woman i really would have to thing twice if not three times before meeting and usually in a public place.

Absolutely - I never meet for the first time at my house - always somewhere neutral - usually a hotel bar or lounge and 9 times out of 10 it's a lunchtime too.

Just for the record though... surely single guys need to be just as cautious.. Nothing stopping a 'nice' girl shouting the odds after a meet eh...

Works both ways surely!!

On another site we use a single male went to a pre arranged meet with a woman, when he got there the woman was there, but so was 6 men who beat him up for being "depraved"

So no, single men need to be just as careful I think.

Well there are occasions you get a little concerned. the words tie me up or hold me down on a first meet are definate no no's to hear.

Guess its not just no that means no but as a bloke you do have to take a little care.

I would only consider it if messages had been sent and nothing too heavy on a first meet. Im happy to play and have a real good imagination and can be imaginative but trust is very important.
