The only time I know Christmas was cancelled was at my friends house as her children were being little shits. She packed everything up and hid all their presents.

She did relent late on Christmas day and they got them but it served it's purpose, for a little while at least.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Before I had my son, Christmas was just another day in my house.

Whilst I detest the britain first crap that is trolled out, please spare a though that christmas is not all sweetness and happiness for many people in society.

If you really don't want to think of Christmas cancelled, pop something extra into your local foodbank, old folks home, childrens home or hospital, or through the RVS or similar as many folk will spend the day on their own missing the contact of a walk to the shops etc.

Rather than spend a fortune on Christmas presents and watching repeats on TV why don't we just be nicer to everyone all year round....Give it to Charity if you care.

I go to Bangkok every year to escape Christmas and New Year. Great for kiddies, but a money-grabbing pain in the ass for grown-ups.

Last Christmas instead of buying Christmas cards, I went and bought food for the local food bank so a family could enjoy Christmas Day, rather than a card that nobody reads and bins on Boxing Day. I wished everyone that knew my merry Christmas on Facebook! I'll be doing it again this year

I've spent many-many Christmases aboard oil-rigs far out at sea crewed by guys some of whom are totally gutted because they are missing the experience of sharing the joys of Christmas with their kids and partners..... many of those guys prefer not to celebrate Christmas aboard the rig......

I've been asked umpteen times to cancel any reference of Christmas aboard the rig.... ,,,,

My answer, as always was ,,,,,ho-ho-ho...

The only time I ever saw anything of the like was a few years ago when the local shopping centre did a generic 'winter' scape rather than a Santa's grotto and nativity scene for fear of offending multi faiths

At my children's school the staff were not allowed to say happy Christmas for some reason, Was very annoying for us! As we want our kids growing up along side different cultures, it's was always the main two(religions) playing tit for tat, as always it's always the kids that suffer.

Well my kids went to a primary school that was probably about 2/3 Muslim. And it wasn't banned there. And my kids were happy to learn about eid, diwali, Hanuka.

The Muslim kids were happy to join in the Christmas festivities. And there parents were happy for them to do it. Islam celebrates Jesus too! The only ones that ever put a dampner on things were the witnesses to the Jehovah incident.

My grandchildren have been in Nativity plays alongside their friends of other religions. They've all sang Christmas songs, made Christmas cards and ate a Christmas dinner together. Staff, parents and children all said Merry Christmas to each other. I wouldn't say Merry Christmas to anyone I knew was not Christian any more than they would wish me happy eid/Hanukkah/Diwali. We said have a nice break and see you in the new year when I worked at a very diverse Secondary school. Some Asian non-Christian students had trees and presents, and wished me a Merry Christmas. I have never heard anyone say Happy Holidays. My muslim shopkeeper friends would wish me a Merry Christmas every year.

it's pretty obvious as those kind of people need a scape goat to escape from their own petty problems so they blame some one else to feel better..

to actually think people get all offended by christmas, poppies or the british flag is stupid....maybe one or two individuals here and there but overall it's stupid no one actually really cares about them.

destiny its pretty much the same everywhere really some people will wish a merry christmas and other wouldn't..

I know quite a few muslims who like to wish merry christmas on to people and send cards, they don't celebrate the event but some of them in their families like to get together and have a meal then watch a film when it's christmas time..

I doubt very much that anyone, regardless of their religion, would ever get upset by you wishing them a Merry Christmas, primarily because it is usually said as a polite gesture.

Secondly, half, no, 99% of the kind of fuckwit that would make up the bullshit about 'christmas being cancelled', have never stepped foot in a church, chapel, synagogue, gurdwara, mosque, or any other place of worship for anything other than weddings, funerals, or summer fetes.

The amount of shite spouted about christmas is staggering... it isn't a religious celebration anymore, in fact, it has become entirely about consumerism.

Thing is, nobody ever actually stops and asks the people that these councils percieved would have a problem with Christmas. Because they don't. And they would have to find some actual fucking work to do!
