We want one class of persons to have a liberal education, and we want another class of persons, a very much larger class of necessity in every society, to forgo the privilege of a liberal education and fit themselves to perform specific difficult manual tasks.

Upon reading the above quote, I began to feel a little sad...angry...frustrated and rather helpless.

This here thread is for those of you who wish to share moments, words, lyrics, thoughts, experiences and anything else that's moved you deeply....and perhaps changed your perception of an aspect of your world...

Watching a video of children getting their Christmas shoe boxes. I cried watching them scream with excitement over a small plastic ball,note pad and pencils and other pocket money type items. One boy about 10 years old was kissing the lid of the box. I showed it to my granddaughter who said that's so sad.

At the launch of my charity a family came along with a serverly autistic son, he never left his mums side ever but that day, he saw a wooden train set and all on his own he let go of his mums hand and wandered over sat on the floor and began playing, once the parents started crying, we all had tears in our eyes.

I knew their and then I made the right choice.

When I was in 6th form I left home after my stepdad beat my brother up. I was staying on friends sofas and in whatever spare room I could find until my social worker managed to find me somewhere to live.

The school was massive and there were loads of kids I didn't know even in my own year, I was also very quiet and shy so I was easily went under the radar of most people.

In the 6th form common room one day a girl i didn't know came towards me with a huge bunch of flowers and handed them to me. She said she'd heard about my troubles and wanted to do something that might make me smile. I cried instead! It was lovely.

After I lost my Mum to Cancer, my 10 year old daughter asked if she could cut all her hair off to donate to " The little princess trust" she raised well over a thousand pounds too, so proud and very emotional

losing my Dad and partner both suddenly and within 6months of each other the grief was unbearable and at times it still is it made me change my whole outlook on life

When my wife.

...unexpectedly at that moment....went upstairs to tell our beautiful children at bedtime that we were splitting up and dad would not be living there anymore. I went up to find my boys sobbing....we all cried for hours as we hugged and all fell asleep in a big bundle together. Life changing moment I will carry with me forever. Five years on I remain scared.

I guess when my bf died in my arms...after all the heartache and grief and a thousand more emotions that run through your mind it certainly changed how I looked at life and I made changes to how I now live it..a few stumbles along the way but back on track now and alls good in the world. Will be 7 yrs on 29th Nov.

Seeing my mum suffer with a form of leukaemia. ..she had blood transfusions every 2 weeks, chemo every week fought pneumonia, was on oxygen 24/7 ....but not once did she cry or complain

Unfortunately I lost mum 7 mths ago after caring for her for a year

She was an inspiration as she was emotionally so strong and only worried about how me and my dad would cope after her death xx

When my younger brother recently celebrated his 50th birthday with a J20. He is a recovering alcoholic and I've watched him grow up and get into some terrible d*unken states, get arrested and when he tried to kick the habit I've seen him end up in hospital, having had alcoholic seizures.

To see him on his birthday, 8years without a drop of alcohol and looking a picture of health, it bought a tear to my eye, especially when he read a poem he had written highlighting the torrid times he'd faced and how he'd got through them xx

Having my brother pass away from a brain tumor within 5 weeks of being diagnosed, my life changed as I am riduled with guilt as my cancer in my liver is responding to treatment and in January I will be cancer cell free (fingers crossed)...

I adored my nan, she was a wonderful woman who brought up myself and my cousin. A couple of years before she died she was feeling a bit down in the dumps, my cousin asked her what we could do for her. Name anything, and we'd get it for her. She replied "the one thing I want, you can't give, I'd like to be young again". When my cousin told me that, I cried my eyes out.
