The Social Effect

So, since returning to Fab I have enjoyed two lovely socials, nothing 'untoward', no intention for it to be anything other than a catch up over a drink and cake in a public environment.

Both have left me feeling pretty upbeat and it's just nice to be able to relax in the company of people that 'get you' and be able to talk about things you can't throw into general conversation with friends.

Now, I know, for many, 'the social' is the prelude or the warm up to things potentially going further, but as a group do we underestimate the value of an entirely social meet that has no motive other than being just what it is (in this case a chat over coffee) ?

Brighton - even Hove!

I very much enjoy socials and that's exactly what they are. Swinging for me is as much about making friends as it is sex.

I absolutely love these kinds of socials. Being around other people who are as open as we are is refreshing. I have enjoyed these socials immensely, usually being with other forum users.

I am always up for these and welcome any invites when I am in someone's area.

PS- I will be in Scotland around Christmas if anyone is around

I think that socials is very much a part of life on here, and that's a great thing. It's always nice to meet like minded people. You only need to look at the huge uptake on the "date" threads recently to see that.

(Has anyone been on their dates yet?)

I've never underestimated the value or power of a purely social meet, with no other intentions other than the delight of meeting someone new.

I have 1 to 1 socials as a first meet but also organise socials on my other profile.

We always have a great laugh, make some new friends and, as the OP says, can chat freely about Fab

The majority of my meets have been socials... It's always fun just meeting and making new friends, who happen to have a similar interest!

We do love purely social meets that work out. It's difficult for 4 people to get together and click but it's great when it works out.

To be honest that is the only type of meet I would consider for the foreseeable future

That works for me. I like just meeting people who are on the same wavelength. I prefer the lack of any pressure which is why I liked the munches and socials of days gone by.

You were able to have a fab night out with all the people you'd knocked round the forums with and got the chance to make future plans.

Definitely more in my comfort zone when there's zero pressure.

I love socials, never used to do them and now they are my favourite, getting out and meeting new people.

Yes I'd wish sometimes socials could just be socials. I can't meet much so I try and limit socials as there's instant pressure for more x

when my profile is unhidden I state how I would like a relaxed social meet first with some one, that is if I ever get that lucky...

does not mean a meal and wine and dine etc more like just a quiet drink in a coffee place or wherever else and have a laugh and discuss some things like ground rules etc...

and if all goes well then the next meet is where the fun comes in...maybe I'm asking too much though I suppose ah well.

You misunderstand

I am talking about socials that have never been nor never will, be translated into sex

i.e. purely for social purposes

A lot of people don't grasp the concept. I find this particularly on my other profile.

I think the concept is easy to understand really. It's like meeting up with a new friend. You meet someone for a pint or coffee or to feed the ducks, with no other purpose except getting to know them and vice versa. What's not to get?

I don't believe we underestimate the value of purely social meets simply because of the nature of the site lots of people just don't want social interaction on that level. Those of us who like to meet socially with no other agenda don't underestimate the value and that's what counts really

Before I'm hung drawn and quartered I fully respect the preference of those who don't want purely social meetings.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I have recently experimented with more social meets. I've been stood up just as often, but it does put off the 'wnna fck?' messagers.

We only have socials were there is a chance of a further fun meet. We prefer to find non sexual friends through other places. Finding new friends through sex is great no complaints there. But if sex is never gonna be on the cards regardless of what you think of each other we wouldnt bother. But each to their own

I get that, however there are things I wouldn't feel comfortable talking about to vanilla friends, that I feel totally at ease talking about with swinging friends, especially where there is no sexual agenda.

If things were that important I wouldnt share them with anyone but my partner. We are both quite shy and socially awkward anyway so we have to step out of our comfort zone at every meet chatting to people for the first time till the fun starts and the adrenalin kicks in. So if somebody said hey how about all that discomfort and awkwardness for no reason cause youll never get the adrenalin rush at the end...FUCK NO lmao

(F) I am one of the social meets that the OP mentioned. I've known him for more years than I care to remember and our meets have always been of a non sexual nature and always will be.

OK, yes, I do know that this is a swingers site, but sometimes you interact with someone on a different level.

AND, the other social person and Bussy and I have had a threesome over some rather delicious scones.

Must do it again xxxx
