Emotional Mess

By (user no longer on site) OP

So I've had a lot on recently at home and at work, but I'd not realised just how much of an effect it's had on me until today.

My friend only asked if I was ok and I burst into tears

Ever felt like that?

Feel like I need a hug ha ha

the middle of the world

I can handle pretty much anything that life throws at me and I'm fine. As soon as someone says "are you ok?" I burst into tears!

I can be sat on a bus and start crying over nothing. It's quite natural so nothing to feel bad about. Life has ups, downs and plateaus. Embrace them all as part of being alive.

It's probably seen as not very manly to admit it but I do on occasion feel like this myself.

Yes. We all do, crying is a release and feels damn good.

Pingu, of all things, set me off the other day.

I used to be that way too. Mostly hormone related and only half of the month. I eventually saw my GP and she's been brilliant. I didn't want to go down the hormone related fix route so she gave me fluoxetine and my life has pretty much overturned.

I'm not depressed, I wasn't suffering from depression so it would never have occurred to me to take antidepressants. The difference for me has been amazing.

Sometimes it's just good to have a good cry though... I'm not suggesting my pmt issues are the same for everyone but I really wish I'd known that it was as easy to fix before because the last couple of years have been pretty awful every month.

Hope you feel better soon x

Bursting into tears is a release. It does not mean you are a mess

I know exactly how you feel OP, in the last year I've lost count of the number of times in various places where I've welled up & cried.

I'm avoiding the John Lewis advert for that very reason as I suspet that will set me off.

It's a natural emotion so I would say you're better off letting it all out by having a good cry than bottling your feelings up.

Hugs xx

Sometimes when you feel a bit stressed/on edge, it's when someone is nice to you or shows concern that sets you off. At least that's how it works for me. Hope you feel a bit more settled today.

Sometimes yes, it's easy to lose focus and realise what the matter is in an odd moment of clarity.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have bi polar so tend to be overly emotional quite a bit and anything can trigger a tear fest I just let it out as bottling it makes it worse then i reach out to loved ones for hugs.

Big Huggies hope you feel better soon hun xx

No problem - but I think you would be surprised how quickly it can turn from one thing into another.

"So I've had a lot on recently at home and at work, but I'd not realised just how much of an effect it's had on me same il today.

My friend only asked if I was ok and I burst into tears

Ever felt like that?

Feel like I need a hug ha ha "

Yes, I (Her) was like it a lot until I finally took back control of things I could influence. It was people asking that same question that would set me off, too. I think the reaction scared a few of them.

In my opinion, you're better off using crying as a release valve than bottling everything up. Just try to make sure the situation doesn't go on too long without you having some support from friends or family.

Hugs and best wishes Op x
