Phone chats...

Edinburgh

It's just dawned on me when posting in another thread that the only person I chat to on the phone is my Mum.

I never phone anyone for a chat. All of my communication is done by text or by email or by post.

I make calls at work but I never just ring someone for a chat.

I can't really decide why that is. There are literally about five people who have my home phone number.

Are you a phone chatter who spends hours blethering to mates? Or not? If not, why not?

I used to chat to my friends for hours on the phone, before Facebook, what's app and texts, it's just dawned on me that I no longer ring anyone, and use other forms instead :/

the middle of the world

my new car has the bluetoothy thing so that my phone will connect to the car. I have ordered this JUST so that I can chat to people on the phone when I'm driving as it's the only time I ever get to myself to have a proper gab.

Tbf, the only person I'll ever ring will probably be my mum or Kev, but at least I'll be able to if I want to.

Now I just have to wait for the new car........

I pretty much never phone anyone. My mum is nearby so I speak to her in person, and she was the person I mostly used to call! Only really have a landline for the mother in law.

I'm the same as you OP chat mainly by text, whatsapp, kik or email, hardly ever phone anyone.

I only ever chat to my Mum (and Dad but less so) and a couple of friends on the phone. I chat with my family when I'm abroad, usually via FaceTime if the broadband connection is good enough. And less frequently my sister and brother and sister in law. The rest of my communication is by email, text, WhatsApp and FB.

It's a bit weird though right? The new technology we have now has obliterated sending letters so I keep doing that. Sometimes on my ancient old manual typewriter but I can't be arsed with chatting on the phone. I think because if I'm texting I can be doing other things at the same time.

I'm on the phone half of my day with work. I call my nan every other day, for an hour or two. And sometimes my partner.

Northampton Somewhere

I chat to my best friend and my sister on the phone, sometimes for an hour or so. It's nice to hear their voices as they live miles away

Texting was the start of the slow death of casual phone conversations.

Now, with twitter, Facebook and Whaaaazaaapp etc, people sy all they have to say about random / casual things in internet posts. It leaves nothing left to say on the phone.

Sad really, I miss the days when you could reach out & touch someone....
