Um yeah. I rarely wear makeup. Occasionally I'll put my face on if I want to look nice but most of the time I just end up with panda eyes and that's even worse than no makeup.

Also I'm shit with makeup... so if anyone wants to come do my makeup every day then I'll wear it

Though our last social was unplanned and arranged whilst travelling so I wasn't wearing make-up when we arrived.

Nothing would happen. But if I can look and feel better with makeup on, which I do, why on earth wouldn't I do that? It's like the difference between leaving the house in some clothes that make me look awful, like a sack of spuds, vs leaving the house in a flattering outfit.

Nothing would happen i just look better with make up on. I have crap oily skin. If i don't control it i have a shiny face. I don't do it for others. I do it because i feel more comfortable and less self conscious with it on.

I don't need to cake an inch of slap over my rosy cheeks and pale skin to make myself look better. I like my rosy cheeks and pale skin as they are.

I don't want all my pores clogged with crap and add an hour to my day putting it on and taking it off. I spend way too much time rubbing my face throughout the day that I'd end up with it smeared all over the place.

I'm not really a girly girl in that sense. Too lazy to preen and I like the natural look. No-one has ever kicked me out of bed for wearing no make-up.

I'll continue to embrace!

I agree with you. But when you say people are "doing something wrong" if they look better without makeup than with it, I disagree. Some people look absolutely stunning naturally and makeup can detract. Not me, but some people.

Plus, I have to put clothes on either way, so it doesn't save me anything to throw on flattering ones. Buy if I don't wear makeup, well, I save my lazy ass some time.

A friend of mine physically can't leave the house without makeup. She shakes and can't breathe properly and gets all sweaty just at the thought of leaving the house without makeup on. She knows nothing will happen but she still can't do it.

Just out of interest. If you're just taking the bin out, would you do it before putting your makeup on for the day, or do you wait until you're ready to leave the house for the day and then take the bin out?

Why does makeup have to mean caking on an inch of slap? Someone will be along to say something about "gangbanged by crayola" shortly I'm sure.

If you have great skin then that's great. But I still maintain everyone looks better with a little enhancement of their best features - whether that's a bit of lippie, a bit of concealer under their eyes, a bit of blusher to brighten their face, or a bit of eyeliner or mascara to enhance their eyes. Just my view. I do not know a single grown woman who doesn't look better (in my view) with a bit of well applied makeup on. This doesn't mean they can't look nice without it as well - just that they look better with it.

They're obviously free to disagree with me

I usually simply can't be bothered with make up on a daily basis plus the fact that I am so short sighted that I really struggle to wear anything but lipstick unless I have my contact lenses in.

There is also the added bonus that when I go out I can look completely different, so my clients are less likely to recognise me

If I wasn't planning to leave the house then I'd just put the bin out with no makeup on, because I'm not going to interact with anyone. If I was going to be speaking to someone, e.g. going to the shops or an appointment, then I would want to put some on then.

I always feel better with my lippy on but other than that I just think I couldn't be arsed with the faff!

I don't think it's a necessity though and actually I often see women and think to myself 'I bet if she washed all that slap off shed look brill' but I totally understand why it makes women feel better because I have the lippy part going on.

I make an effort with my hair but my face I kinda just like it how it is. I want to sent you a face pic with no make-up on now!

I'm not being pissy, I have never met a single person who I didn't think looks better with *well-applied* (that being the key point) makeup. They may exist out there; I've never seen one. So I still stand by my "they're just doing it wrong" statement.

In the vast majority of cases I would agree.

Though there is a woman in her 30s who is a regular at my gym.

She has lovely skin, is healthy and fit and looks like she is a good 10 years younger.

Before leaving she proceeds to spend 30 minutes applying make up and doing her hair resulting in her looking less attractive. I have said she doesn't need the make up but she just smiles and disagrees...

I feel worse about myself when I wear makeup just out and about during the day... I feel like the whole world knows I'm faking it and is judging me for it. I know probably nobody will ever even notice or think that but it still bugs me. But saying that, I've never been very good at doing my own makeup so that probably leads back to the comment about it being properly applied. For anyone that's interested, I have no makeup on in any of my pics except 6th Feb.

I'm sure if women knew how to apply make-up properly it would help. I have a girl at work and she trowels it on... you know that if you scraped a finger down her face there would be a massive line. I think it probably looks way better if it's done right so I'm not knocking it... I'm just saying it's not for me and I don't feel I'm doing it wrong cause I prefer not to wear it.

I've had facial surgery to have some skin cancer removed and I'm sure it probably won't be the last time. I figure one day I might feel that I need to cover up the scars but it's not that noticeable now but at the time it was done I was super paranoid about it. If that's the case then I'm going to a professional for a lesson.

My basic daily make up takes less than 10 minutes. Very thin layer of foundation some eye shadow and mascara. My going out make takes 20/25 minutes as I use more products. I wear it for me to felt better about myself no one else. I like my eyes to look there best at all times.

I think you're right on this generally.

Its very hard to tell someone that the make up they are wearing is having the opposite affect to the one they are presumably after.

There are also lots who are just not confident in their skills and may not wear make up for that reason.

ive never spent 'time' doing myself up - curly hair i just wash and leave - tip upside down and apply hairspray if going out - if im showered and hair almost dry and outfit chosen - can be good to go in about ten minutes

I won't go out unless I've done my hair. I buy clothes and clothes which are nice and fit me well.

I don't think expressing a preference for makeup is wrong just as I don't think expressive a preference for the natural look is wrong.

I rarely wear make up on a daily basis.. but if I know I have an important meeting I will..

Why? Because it will make me look better, more professional and as a result give me that extra little confidence.

And a lot of us know how to get the best from our looks. Some women look great without make up. I'm truly jealous. I never used to wear make up when i was younger because i didn't really need it. Age has played a part in my skin not being as great as it used to be. When you are youthful looking,fresh faced is fantastic. I just look like a mad cat lady with no make up now so i would rather people didn't see me like that if that is ok??

Would I meet someone without makeup on? Reluctantly, yes.

Would I meet someone without makeup on if I hadn't had my tinting done? Not a chance.

Who is actually saying they're dependent though? I'm certainly not dependent on it. I just choose to feel better about the way I look by wearing it. I don't understand why if you feel you look better doing one thing rather than another, why you wouldn't choose to do that thing.

When there's a specific reason why I don't want to wear it (on holiday in hot countries where I'm going to be putting suncream on and my face will be dripping with sweat, for example) then I don't wear it. (Although I do get semi-permanent eyelash extensions in that situation so I'm not totally au naturel.)

Yep I've met someone early morning after pilates with my hair scraped back in a ponytail, no make, wearing workout gear & a hoodie ~ we both survived the ordeal

As much as I'm a pro make up girlie girl & that is my usual look ~ I do like on occasions not to wear any.

It's really easy to understand.

Scroll up, it's been explained several times by lots of women (no girls though).

We like make-up. It covers our bags and spots. It highlights our favourite features. It comes in pretty colours, even glitter.

Why do people put wallpaper on perfectly adequate walls? Why do people wear colourful clothes, when beige will do? Why get a haircut? I mean, really, is it hard to understand a human behaviour common in cultures for thousands of years?

Never deliberately. Forgot my essentials once, Iit was a blow to my confidence for sure. My make up is my armour. Sweeping black smokey eyeliner and highlight the rest.

Because if you skip it you can have an extra 10 minutes in bed

This is why i look a riot monday to friday and people think i look seriously different when i put a bit of makeup on to go somewhere nice ... Not because i think im naturally beautiful ... Because i am lazy !!

I think the art to good make up is good application and knowing what suits you and applying it in a way that enhances your appearance rather than completely changing it. I love make up and always have and will do....
