"No, because I knew the car would accelerate better. Because of this I would have accelerated harder and more often than i needed to. End result, i would have used more petrol which was more expensive to buy. " in the first place.

"Interesting. Some garages as in mechanics I have spoken to have said our car would benefit from it as it's a petrol turbo." If you have a knock sensor - which is typical in a turbo car, then you would benefit. We put super unleaded in our cars. I reckon I get about 5% extra mileage from it in real world driving, so if the price is less than 5% difference it's worth it.

"yes because my car needs 98 octain...as per told by manufacturer....yes it picks up and runs better.....high proformance car though" If the manufacturer based its performance figures on SU then it would have to recommend you use that fuel spec.

"never tried it .... but would it help my turbo diesel accelerate any quicker ?? ![]() ![]() Well super unleaded definitely won't but I've put the more expensive diesel in my car once by accident and never noticed anything and mines turbo diesel but then again I always drive mine in sports mode as any other it's like pulling off in a tank!!!

"...but then again I always drive mine in sports mode as any other it's like pulling off in a tank!!!" Is there enough room to pull off in a tank - especially if it has a full crew?

"Years ago my BMW K100RS would numb my right wrist if I stuck it at 80 to 85 on UL. It didn't do that on super UL. It did seem smoother all over the range. BUT, that was an 86 bike designed to perform on super. It ran on UL but not as well as it did on super. But engines designed and built for UL won't see a benefit using superUL .. I think" It is designed to run on either 95 or 98 octane. We get on average 40 mpg which is better than our previous diesel scenic.
