"I have been buying the Daily Mail for over 35 years. It's no worse or better than others!" The Mail actually has one of the last, genuine teams of investigative staff reporters of any national paper. Shame it's obsessed with immegrants causing falls in house prices, rises in cancer, and Jeremy Corbyn. Ho hum.

" I'm thankful we have a free press in this country, good journalism exposes corrupt elites, one such example is the fifa world cups bidding scandals. The establishment/government have tried and failed to crack down on the free press with recent Sun reporters being taken to court (at huge expense to the tax payer) with 28 out of 29 cases being lost by the establishment and victory for the free press when a public jury cleared them. The 29th case is currently in the appeal process and is likely that case will be lost too. What it boils down to was a personal vendetta by Gordon Brown and the Labour party against the Sun newspaper for switching sides from supporting Labour to the Conservatives back in 2010. Only Gordon Brown didn't see that the public (an independent jury) would not share his and Labours vendetta. We need a good strong free press in this country to keep the establishment in check.

Would never pay for it .. love reading the comments after the story though...." Very true, their online layout is second to none and the comments section gives a fantastic insight into the human psyche.

"love reading the comments after the story though...." And this is probably why they have such a massive readership. To clarify... I think all of the newspapers are rags who suit their own agenda. Our local Evening News is just the same. I'm equal in my loathing which is why I choose not to read any of them.

Although I have been listening to radio 4 lately

"We read it online as it actually is well laid out the Web page..lots of pics to go with the stories...But it's probably the worse paper for journalism out there all headlines are. Extremely sensationalised completely out of context and they constantly write rubbish about isis. .. immigration... and Kim Kardashian. . Would never pay for it .. love reading the comments after the story though...." Since you raise the subject of MailOnline... You may not be paying for it, but the advertising revenue they get from you clicking on their pages is what keeps them going. Hence MailOnline being a major provider of clickbait...

"Would love the Mail haters to suggest which paper one should read.... or even the on they read.... None of them. They are all bad because all they do is filter yesterday's news through the filter of their owner's agendas. I'm all for journalism as a governmental oversight mechanism, but don't see why physical newspapers are required to make that a possibility." As long as people enjoy reading them , we do not need to worry too much about the content.

"I have been buying the Daily Mail for over 35 years. It's no worse or better than others! Oh come on!!! Hahaha!! The Express, the Star, the Sun, amongst others are all arguably worse You forgot the Mirror and (I even feel dirty typing the word) the Guardian. " I may not often find myself in agreement with what the Guardian says but in terms of quality of content, comment and journalism it's in a totally (and much better) league than the Sun, Mirror, Star, Express or Mail. I would concede that of the old tabloids the Mail is the best quality and of the old broadsheets the Guardian is probably the worst quality but we're really starting to compare chalk with cheese if we try and lump them altogether.

I agree. Confirmation bias is the reason is the reason that people who read The Mail think Guardianistas should be shot and people who read the Guardian think the people who read The Mail are unthinking, heartless cunts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias The Grauniad is in its own way as annoying as The Mail.
