Stoopid question...

So... I should know the answer to this but I don't so I'm asking you lot...

If I upload a photo and use it as my avatar, but don't make it available for everyone to see... does it appear in some list of random updates?

My inbox just exploded and I'm slightly concerned that anyone should view my avatar as remotely sexy.

Well I'd have said no. But your evidence is suggesting otherwise..

I don't know the answer to your question. However, tangentially related to your post....

Marc actually gets very annoyed at me when I change our avatar - even to a picture we have had uploaded for months - because a whole load of people message us. He thinks it is because they don't recognize the picture and so think they haven't messaged us yet. Many of them are people we have already so "no thanks" to.

Can't you set it as private in the upload options? I'm fairly certain if you do that it doesn't show in any updates.

If you set it as private when you uploaded it then it won't appear.

If however, you uploaded it as public then changed it to private after it was approved, you will have missed the boat so to speak and it will appear on the local updates page.

Well it may just be coincidence which is why I've asked. It just seems weird.

I uploaded it as private, it was approved and then I set it to my profile pic. I thought that would avoid the page of updates.

Doesn't the updates include people who have changed their Avatar? I though that was one of the "updates" which are reported.

It would, yes

Maybe you are on a 1000 hot lists and they noticed you changed your avatar
