Sorry I am usually quit self deprecating and put myself down all the time.

However I thought fuck it why not post something positive.

Two year's ago this coming Feb I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Blahhhh how that happen?

Coz after being super healthy and fit up to the age of 40 I had an injury which stopped me training.

Lots of self pity, and loathing, depression and eating shit.

Totally my own fault.

117kgs big bloated sweaty fuck.

Diagnosed.

WTF!

Lastnight at gym

87kgs

Have a low bmi, feeling great and look better now than when I was 30.

So all those people who blame everyone but yourselves for eating and drinking like a pig.

Think before shovelling in the cold pizza and necking the two ltr bottle of .

Am I eating this out of hunger or for comfort or just laziness?

You don't have to be a fitness fanatic or a diet guru.

Just be responsible and eat in moderation exercise regularly.

And you will feel and look better.

It's easy to point the finger at everyone else and blame them.

But the fact is, you can overcome, you can do it and not for anyone else but for yourself.

I am really not interested in people who say I am fat and happy screw everyone who doesn't like me.

Bollocks, sorry I don't buy that for one second.

Most overweight people are unhappy and stuck in a vicious cycle of self loathing.

This is not about looking good to conform with the perceived Normal looking person.

This is about health and well being.

If people are offended by my words then tough.

That's me I am unhappy I eat Crap to hide, I lay around coz I am scared.

If this post helps one person to get the determination and strength to change then I am prepared to take any and all abuse that people throw at me.

You can change, you can do it.

You can, you can, you can.

Diabetes is an epidemic and it's time that we started to take more responsibility in stemming the tide.

Good on you!

My mother had diabetes for years and did nothing about it. She is now on dialysis and had a leg amputated last year. And she admits it's no one's fault but her own.

I don't think its people being bitter about how well he's done for me its the fact that yet once again in here overweight people have been put into the box and the way the op was preaching himself...good on him for sorting his life n health oot but really any need to be so tunnelled in his theory to overweight people.

We don't all sit around on our asses and scoff our faces some have medical conditions etc...and strangely enough some people are happy with how they are.

No one becomes overweight from eating appropriate amounts of food. It really is as simple as the OP suggested.

"Yay you for preaching and putting everyone in the same box, Oh to be so perfect."

I get why you've said this but if you look at the OPs message in generic terms; he's just saying that for things that we have control over, lets take that responsibility, don't rely on others and work hard to make positive changes ourselves.

I've been slim, lost lots of weight with Weightwatchers but although I looked better physically, mentally I felt no different to how I felt when I was fat.

Losing weight does not solve any mental issues somebody may have.

I don't think the OP was insinuating that losing weight will cure any mental illness out there.

I don't understand how saying that taking responsibility for your health and making changes will benefit you is not applicable to everyone.

I'm not trying to shame anyone out there who is happy with their weight and feels good about themselves. However, I think the OP's message is a good one overall.

I have watched my mother for a decade get beaten down a little bit each year because of diabetes. All the while she did nothing to help herself. I think she thought nothing truly bad would happen to her.

When my father died a few years ago we had to tell her the news while she was laying in a hospital bed almost dead herself because of complications related to her diabetes.

A few months after moving to the UK I had to fly back to NY because my mother heard the news that she would have to get her leg amputated because of her diabetes. She now lives her life in a wheelchair.

She is now sorry for the things she did to her body. She tells me constantly how she wishes she had done things differently. But she didn't. And now she lives with the consequences of her choices. She can't drive, she can't live in her house alone, and she has to be at the hospital 3 days a week to get dialysis.

My brother, who is 29, has diabetes too, now.

I think that the message behind the OP is not to berate throse who are happy with themselves, but to motivate those who aren't. There are real consequences for the choices we make. Sometimes, as with my mother, we don't see them until it's too late.

-Courtney

I think it's only those who have existing shame themselves will take umbrage over such a post. It strikes me as pure jealousy over someone being successful.

Bloody well done op, as for people saying about medical conditions yes there are a few one cannot lose weight because of this reason but I know of four people on this forum who are now successfully losing weight after saying they couldn't because of medication.

I myself have conquered my food issues that I had for nearly 50 years and it certainly hasn't been easy but I feel I've almost conquered them, had a small relapse last week but thankfully no harm done.

no it doesn't, I have bipolar I will always have bipolar, but physically I'm as near to damn perfect a 50 year old can be as far as sugars, choletral, blood pressure etc go.

I'm far more naturally active, my confidence is through the roof, I'm proud I've conquered my addiction and I know I look a million times better than I ever did. It mental health issues are a different matter.

There was a disclaimer in the OP.

I'm overweight. I can't blame anyone but me. I like hearing about people pulling their finger out and making a difference to their own life.

I like that the intention when singing about it is to inspire others and when I'm at full health and able to get off my arse properly you can bet your arse I'll be singing about it when I lose even a smidgen of lard from my toosh.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a little encouragement. I've battled with my weight my whole adult life and the majority of the time I don't give two hoots about it. It's other people who seem to care, including my mother who insists on telling me I'd be stunning if I were thin. Well I'm not. I'm never going to be thin but I could be a damn sight healthier than I am.

I could not be utterly fucked when I have to run for a bus. I could manage a simple walk up a hill without needing a lung transplant and I could most certainly be out pulling whichever Tom, Dick or Harry I choose rather than hermiting myself away in my flat talking shite on the internet with strangers. If I could get over my mental block that I can't shift and get myself to the swimming pool even once then I think it would be a start.

I know all this shit, I don't need to be told I'm fat by strangers, I have several mirrors. I know what I look like. I also choose not to be offended by people who judge me because of my weight. I choose to believe in the good heart, the kind soul and the generally decent person I am than waste my time worrying about what other people I've never met think. Life is too short as it is never mind wasting time getting my knickers twisted by people I don't know.

Love me? Love my lardy arse! I'll do something about it when I'm unhappy and/or able to. I don't mind being inspired every now and then though. Choose to read things differently. It'll make a very small difference to your own mental wellbeing.

Hats off to you OP and to all the rest of you who are making those small changes and stand up for yourself by all means but stop getting oftended by petty shite. That's within your control.
