Nope, not having that one ... the clue is with the exclamation mark, it would appear the author intended the quote as an interjection or qualifying statement...

if however this is not the case... I am not really that arsed

Ok, agree with all of the above, so on balance Chinese is still an order of magnitude harder although some bits are simple! I'd also say Arabic is harder too and Korean is definately much harder.

I disagree. Both "When will people get the difference?" and "Basic English is not that hard." are sentences in their own right. Neither is subordinate to the other in that the meaning does not change if the order of the two sentences is reversed.

Now that's being really pedantic in every sense of the word.

My spelling has suffered since I started to rely on a phone's autocorrect, which jumbles US and British English and I don't notice, once my eyes tire. I'm guessing that standards overall will decline, as we increase reliance upon this tool.

Here's the thing, OP, people who start threads criticizing grammar rarely get off lightly. Some agree with you. Others think you are being pedantic for a sex site. Hence my original comment to you about using it as an additional filter for yourself, instead of writing a thread about it.

Many people on here are dyslexic. Others are on their phones, with the notorious autocorrect and fat fingers. Still others are just lazy.

Throw into the mix the fact that those who complain of grammar and spelling rarely have the best spelling and grammar themselves, and you begin to see the problem.

Actually I think in this case the English pluralisation rules should apply, in which case it statuses not status. status (the Latin plural of status but pronounced more like statoos) would only be used if he had put something like 'peoples status' in which case it's a group noun.

You could argue that 'people' is implied so status (with oo pronunciation) might be correct.

"have a filter on for all dyslexics,

and i will have one, for all the ignorant

i bet my IQ and EQ are higher and more valuable, than your self proclaimed English Guru status though.

Where did i claim guru status?

its all about you isn't it?..is that the only thing you could say?

just asking a factual question.

no, you are displacing attention, from what i said, into what you wanted to focus on, taking away from the thread, your own subject matter..onto a person who challenged your thoughtless comments.

.

you want a power struggle.. because of that avoidance..if you dont..get back to the point you were making, after i posted.. repeat again that everyone should use correct english, after reading my post on it...i dare you..

Not interested in any power struggle! your opinion is yours, you implied i claimed a guru staus, i did not! My comments are not "thoughtless" why the attack? all i did at the start was express an opinion and ask a question."

But you were thoughtless

One; as I've mentioned you are critiquing others on their use of basic English, when you're grammatically incorrect yourself in your OP

Two; you are judgementally assuming they have a good level of basic English, that may not be the case, or they could be dyslexic. Given that there are 15 variations of dyslexia, some can't read words correctly, other have trouble spelling, some suffer with it numerically or symbolically and others grammatically, there are now even studies to see if it effects the way people use emoji's

Still, it's about time someone started a thread about this. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done before. Now what do people think about bareback, tories and some single blokes profile?

Personally I think that spelling and grammar are important and people should make more of an effort into getting it right than some seem to. However, as has been said, some may have dyslexia or not have English as their first language. The main thing is to right in a manner that can be understood by those reading it. Sometimes on here that does require a little more effort than sometimes seem to be being made.

Neutral here but it is kind of ironic that you're dislexic but you've been schooling people on spelling here. I didn't know half them words you were chucking around.

One possibility is that most people on the site are trying to get maximum fanny for minimum effort and can't be arsed to check spelling or autocarrot as it slows shit down. If they want to do that then, fuck it - why not, it's their privilege.

The best advice all night was "use it as a filter" if you have a problem with it. The debate really ended there...

Errr no it isn't. Russian and Chinese are much harder.

Actually, spelling and syntax in Chinese is relatively easy. Though the characters and tones are a different matter.

Everything about Russian is hard

But modern English is widely considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. Correctly, that is. It's beauty is in its adaptability.

-Courtney

Ok, agree with all of the above, so on balance Chinese is still an order of magnitude harder although some bits are simple! I'd also say Arabic is harder too and Korean is definately much harder.

In fact, all airline in the pilots in the world must speak... English. Why English? Because it's a piece of piss to learn. Any language is hard to master but frankly who gives a crap about Oxford commas"

"As someone who is dyslexic, I am always trying to improve my spelling and punctuation.

I know there are different levels of dyslexia but think that some people just can't be bothered.

If you can't be bothered on a site where you are trying to tempt people into bed, what other things aren't you going to bother with?

My pet hate at the moment is people spelling does as dose...

Just to digress slightly is there a version of dysleyia with numbers? I really struggle with basic calculations the no. Seem to judble up and i get stessed,im not thick by any means but its plagued me for years"

Because if you have access to a computer or smart phone (everyone on here), you either have a spell checker or Google. If I don't know how to spell a word I will Google it.

How often do you see a long post with no capital letters or any form of punctuation?

I know some people can barely read or write and I would never be-little them, however if some people are not being lazy, then swingers must have a very high percentage of dyslexics...
