So I'm booked in for my first ever wax at a local salon. Already told them I'm a crossdresser and they're totally cool with it so saves me the potential embarrassment having to explain why I'm there Getting my legs, chest and back done.

Anyone got any tips on what to expect (except pain lol) ? Heard a rumour that a paracetamol an hour before can help with the pain...?

Looking forward to it in a weird way

good luck with it! I expect it's like most things, first time will be the most nerve wracking, then it'll all be cool in the future!

Two nurofen and paracetamol won't do you any harm!

Try and relax and remember it's over in under ten minutes.

It's not that bad, I expect they'll tell you but pull all your skin taught and then it doesn't hurt so much.

10 minutes?! Mine takes almost an hour and that's not including a chest & back (for obvious reasons )

Waste of good money to be honest.

I used to use someone down here - the only place that would take males.

Get a better finish using Magic Powder and it lasts far longer.

At £2.99 for the Red one on Amazon compared to £50-80 its a no-brainer

How does this magic powder work?

Thanks for the tips! I've used removal creams before but it never quite does the job properly.

Anyway, the whole "salon" experience will be a buzz

Magic Powder is a "removal cream" - it was designed for african/caribean males to shave without the horrific ingrown hairs, etc.

WARNING - it WILL burn nipples if you leave it on too long!

Basically its a powder you mix with a little water to form a paste.

You apply it to the area you want removed.

Wait 5-7 minutes making sure it doesn't dry out ( apply a little more water if needed).

After that time use a cloth/flannel and fresh water - NO SOAP - to remove the paste (under a slow running cool shower works best)

Et Voila - hair gone for the next few weeks.

For the TV/CD - it will do the same for your facial hair as that was its original purpose.

With waxing after less than a week it would be coming back through - Magic powder is a similar time frame BUT its £2.99 NOT £80!!

And you can re=apply it after a few days to keep it clear unlike waxing which needs a certain length to work.

no matter

Do take pain killers. Legs are a breeze for me (I epilate myself) but hollywood hurts. I have very sensitive skin. She takes 10 mins to whip off the undercarriage. Good luck hope she keeps the skin tight. Photos after ??

Yeah that happened to me once... 40 minutes!! I'm like what the fuck are you doing down there, I'm really not that hairy!

My lovely Polish lady is in and out in 7 minutes. She's epic!

I'd rather pay for a pro than fanny about with that magic powder, especially having sensitive skin.

Painkiller is wise OP, and yeah try and relax - easier said than done but it's over quickly & you won't be able to stop stroking yourself after it

Takes less time and faff than going to a "professional " - you seem to forget that for a guy or anyone other than a woman - waxing is very difficult to get done AND you pay considerably more.

Almost no salons will do a male.

Down here there is only one and she works from her private salon at her house. Not one of the usual salons will let a guy in there let alone wax them.

It takes 10mins tops in the privacy of your own home and smooth for 10-14 days.

I'm also curious as to why you put "professional" in quotation marks?

Waxing leaves me smooth for 4-6 weeks, so still definitely wins.

upton wirral

Getting it all done at once is a brave first step, but gets easier everytime.

I only get my back done every 6 weeks and use Veet on legs and chest, also shave chest after as thick growth.
