...Up on the Downs

Well, I can hurtle about the countryside risking life and limb - on a horse or on skis.........I can dance 'til dawn, or swim up and down, up and down 'til I turn into a prune........I'm even willing to rythmically squat, lunge and crunch carrying little green dumbells with a bunch of lycra-clad ladies who lunch...............but sit on one grey machine after another moving slabs of iron up and down until it hurts? Wtf!!!

Stuff it, it's just tooooo boring!!

Me too!

The only good thing about the gym is the perving material in there

And the sauna.

The rest of it is dull dull dull!

Your body hurting because you exercise means your working different muscles that your not used to working your supposed to hurt in the gym thats what gets you results along with a balanced diet. NO PAIN...

I'm hating the gym too. Being made to go by my physio and the NHS to try and sort out my injury. I only need to use 3 things and it's not my thing. Mirrors everywhere so you see bits wobbling

Gyms.

Invented for people whose daily weight regime is lifting a pen.

Come and do my job for 2 weeks and you’ll realise they're pointless.

Exactly - but I'd rather do it ANY other bloody way than sitting on a fecking grey machine in a gym lol!! And actually the free exercises are WAY better at targetting most of the muscle groups I want to

Exactly, that's what I'm saying! And a really good PT with his own gym targetted the muscles I wanted without using a single machine anyway, I don't need 'em!

Chesney Hawkes greatest hits perhaps?

I honestly don't think that would do it - it's the 'use this machine' thing which doesn't sit well with me, sitting there like a lemon in between reps! wtf! I'd rather be leaping about or something lol! The total body type classes are good, I prefer them.

I don't have time to get bored.

And find that music- the right music makes all the difference.

But then I do mainly cardio and the weights only takes about 10mins x

Yes, I'd much rather swim for cardio - I do non-stop front crawl and use the time to think, and I enjoy the non-stop movement. I had no class today, so I popped in the gym before swimming, and after only 2 mins on the cross trainer I was bored with it, lol! I managed to do 5 to warm me up before doing some work on machines - adductors, abductors, glutes, triceps etc. but I got really sick of the sitting around between reps so did about 20 mins and fled to the pool for a 45 min swim! I'd already done 3 hrs with the horses so I reckon that was a fair penance for a carb heavy weekend!

Gerrards Cross

We've got a treadmill at home and I tend to watch quiz shows on the TV in front of it while running. I can do 5 or 6k while watching countdown and it's hard to get bored when trying to solve anagrams

I used to enjoy the gym. I like how you can spend an hour or more thinking of nothing while you burn off fat. And you don't get cold and wet

Can't be arsed with the gym!Went for about 3-4 months 3 nights a week with my bro a couple of years ago to get me out the house after splitting with my ex......was on the protein shakes(no roids for me!)n eating like a horse!

Noticed some very slight gains which was good but fuck it my work keeps me fit enough........I'm pretty lazy in most areas of my life except for at work n in the bedroom!

Get out on a proper push bike instead of that equine steed of yours some time....much more fun than hamster in a wheel style pedal pushing down the gym

Exactly, I used to work on site and on my way home I'd see people on walking machines in the gym (they are all in front of the window in the town centre), and think just go for a walk, then go home and dig the garden

I don't mind a bike ride, especially if I have company and we're heading to the pub!

But why do they make those saddles so uncomfortable nowadays, they weren't like that when I was a kid!
