According to the news, sausages and bacon give you cancer now or increase likelihood.

Can these "health officials" not just fuck off. I pretty much ignore it all and just eat what i eat. Just annoys me how every month there's something else we are being told is bad. Fail to see how ground pork with some herbs mixed in is more likely to give you cancer than a pork chop. Utter bollocks.

It's often the other Shit that's in them that makes you ill.

This is why things like butter are better than these buttery spreads. There's two ingredients (milk and salt) compared to about 30, most of which are artificial flavourings and preservatives.

I gather there is research to back this up!

However I choose to live a life of enjoying my food and trying to stick to the premise of 'everything in moderation'

Have you read the ingredients lost of a pack of sausages? I'd expect your answer lies there.

Makes you wonder how they have passed all the strict food guidelines for so long if they are so lethal ...

Yet aspartame seems to be acceptable?!?!

We can only do our best in regards to sourcing food the way we cook it etc.... I try and buy local and organic and am not being told what I can and cannot eat by some spunk trumpet in a lab everything in moderation...

Don't start the Aspartame argument again! I remember the last time someone mentioned artificial sweetener in a pejorative way!

"According to the news, sausages and bacon give you cancer now or increase likelihood."

A high meat diet, especially with high-fat meats, especially with processed high-fat meats has been linked to all sorts of health problems for a long time.

The processed meat and cancer link had been around for a long time.

Not sure how this is news.

Yes I barely got out alive after suggesting that Aspartame was highly suspect and borderline carcinogenic!

I smoke and already have skin cancer, I'm not giving up sausages on the off chance. I might stop smoking at some stage but they can shove their breakfast chat.

I always assume they mean cured/processed/smoked meats, so more your European-style sausages rather than the English Banger. I'm surprised the Dail Mail doesn't make more of all that Danish bacon and European sausage coming over here and giving us cancer

That said, we make all our own sausages using pork shoulder

Don't spend too much time worrying about what will kill you, the stress of it will give you heart disease

Uric acid is a heterocyclic compound of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen with the formula C5H4N4O3. It forms ions and salts known as urates and acid urates, such as ammonium acid urate. Uric acid is a product of the metabolic breakdown of purine nucleotides. High blood concentrations of uric acid can lead to gout. The chemical is associated with other medical conditions including diabetes and the formation of ammonium acid urate kidney stones.

Produced by your body, not fruit.

I read somewhere that having a beard means you're more likely to develop heart disease.

One is not related to the other, but apparently it's indicative of lifestyle.

Take everything with a pinch of salt.

Just a pinch, mind....

hehe hey you learn something new everyday all I know is I had gout not a very pleasant thing and was told to avoid high concentrations of fruit ,fruit juices ,peas ,red meat ,port etc I've also had kidney stones and have not ever used salt as an added condiment to a meal or cooking but salt is in almost every food product

Its bollocks.

People who don't smoke can get lung cancer still.

Recent studies have shown its all irrelevant and down to your genes.

My grandad was a good case in point. He only ate mashed potato with half a pack of butter mixed in every day. He smoked fat cubans everyday also until he died of old age at 98.

"According to an article I read on some medical site, doctors are saying that most cancers are a fluke. "

It's possible. Your immune system kills many cancers every day, it's estimated 15-17 times a day you develop cancerous cells and your immune system kills them.

Some cancers will always have certain things in them, such as mesothelioma always has asbestos in it, so it's very likely these cancers are caused by that alien product being in the body.

Most of the rest of cancer causing behaviours are classed as risk, down to lesser obvious correlation.

Good news!

I was reading today, in "Cock and Bull" - (the journal of Poulty and Cattle Farming) that eating bacon regularly significantly reduces your risk of spending 30 years being abused in an old folks home, by immigrants who don't speak English, while smelling of wee.

(Pass the brown sauce)
