Electric blankets

Well the clocks have gone back and winters drawing in, nearly time for the ol cap'n to get out the winter duvet. Only this year I thought I might treat myself to a electric blanket, any suggestions on make model type?

We are after all a community that spends a fair amount of time in bed, even if it isn't always sleeping;-)

I've always bought cheap ones, from Argos, they've never burst into flames yet.

You're not supposed to get them wet if they're on, might be a good idea to consider that.

Well electric blankets are no good bought one years ago but still have to make the bed thought electric things were ment to help

My friend told me that John Lewis sell electric duvets - rather than blankets. She's getting one, and I'm going to follow suit. I'd never heard of an electric duvet before but need one in my life for the winter

It's not like having only a sheet on obviously but it's not uncomfortable, and it's toasty warm.

Yeah I had one of theirs, it was dual control so I could have one side warm and the other cold. I lent it to a friend when she moved back to her Mums cold house and never got it back.

Me too. I always spray fabreeze before I get in bed as it makes it not only smell good but makes it nice and cold

Never knew you could still get them. Remember everyone in the family had them, when I was young. Not heard anyone mention having one for years. Surprised one of my ex girlfriends doesn't hsve one. I'm guessing she will have thre duvets on the bed by now. Lol

Haven't used one for ages

I brought my mum an electric heated throw from Argos. I thought ideal when she's in the lounge watching TV and can use it in the bedroom too

Well I have a Hungarian gosse feather duvet so they are light but keep you warm not cheap about £250 for king size but well worth it .but saying that the bed can help as well to keep you warm I have a vi-spring bed with wool and cashmere and horse hair in it but you have to have a spare 12 grand to have one

Electric blankets are great, we have had them for years. We get dual controlled ones as Cho Cho likes it warmer than I do.

You can buy ones that are like mattress toppers, you cant feel the wires at all.

I hate cold beds, and keep my electric blanket on all night if I'm alone.

Just get a Down quilt you shouldnt need an electric blanket then. I have a 4.5tog for winter use the 11 tog I have is way to warm for me.

No wonder you dont accommodate then ... wouldnt want anyone drenching a 12 k mattress .. oh my not popular.

I have a 13.5 tog quilt and i still get cold
