Nightmare on elm street definitely they are classics.thr original Halloween is so sinister and creepy too.

As for newer ones there aren't many that are scary but the new remake of poltergeist is pretty good.

Totally agree about new horror's, for the amount they knock out they are normally pretty poor & repetitive

Nightmare on Elm Street gave me nightmares when I first watched it. We went to a Halloween party years ago and someone was dressed up as Freddie, freaked me out it did. Mrs L x

We have been having horror movie nights here with my teenage daughter. So far we have watched.

The shining , exorcist, the strangers and the conjuring .... Jason and my daughter seem to gang up on me after by hiding putting of lights when I go to toilets or try and jump scare me through the films !!! Cheeky buggers.

Looking for a recommendation for tonight if anyone has a suggestion

Another great choice Tim Curry is so under rated as an actor, in my opinion, his episodes in criminal minds were some of the best the show has ever had.

Only the original salems lot though from the 80s or 70s maybe, the remake they did isnt as good.

Horror films are nothing like they used to be although do get a new ground breaking one every once in awhile. For me personally will always say 1 of the best horror films was Jaws. I just had to hear the music and was hiding behind the sofa

My scariest is the original black & white version of 'House on Haunted Hill' with Vincent Price. You don't see anything scary, no monsters or gore but the atmosphere it builds up scares the heebiejeebies out of me

I completely forgot about Salems Lot! Loved and hated it in equal measure as a kid.. The tapping at the window always got me..

And when the guy takes the young lad outside and makes him put the shotgun in his mouth..

Another one that scared the hell out of me was American werewolf in London! Saw it for the first time in ages last year and didn't realise how funny it was too! especially the scene in the cinema

Why do they never show Hellraiser anymore too, pinhead was a great character

For being rated a 12, the woman in black is pretty scary

I'm pretty desensitised to scary films, the human centipede 2 was a bit grim and close to the bone and the rape scene in "I spit on your grave" was the only thing I've ever had to skip in a film.

I would recommend "Let the right one in" it's brilliant, there is an american remake called "Let me in" which is a good movie in its own right but the original has something really class about it,for the GORE lovers "40 days of night" is a must see.

Anyone watch American horror story?

They're pretty graphic.

If watching a disfigured demon raping a guy with a pointy metal strap on is your thing you'll love it
