It's not the mental you should be scared of...it's the people who made them that way.

I'd live there, wouldn't bother me.

It's not exactly the same thing, but there's a hotel in Oxford that was a prison. It's called Malmaison and I'm not too sure about staying there but it does get some good reviews on Tripadvisor.

Chippenham Malmesbury area

There's one overlooking the M32 just outside Bristol, looks like a yellow castle - I think it would be so cool to live there; wouldn't bother me about its former use.

I heard a Saudi prince bought it and restored it only to flee in terror because of the ghosts...

Maybe some person told me a good story on that place on the hill, never checked it out

Not heard that one - bloody good location though.

Sadly, I don't know anyone that lives there.

Its just bricks and mortar. Boring to be scared of. Ghosts don't exist. Some "asylums" are actually beautiful buildings

Malmaison is a chain, their hotels (i've only stayed in 2) are amazing.

I used to work in prisons anyway so that wouldn't bother me.

Yet you appear to be fucking a ghost on your avatar! lol

I'm with you though, I'm sceptical about all things paranormal so wouldn't have a problem if the price was right!

I stayed in the Hotel Du Vin in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and that was an 18th century asylum. Amazing building.

I would as I love the history of places like that and most were beautiful building set in large grounds away from main towns so I'd find that perfect

Are we talking real life hospitals for mental illness here, or comic book stuff?

I've lived in a former mental asylum as they called it back then...I lived in the ground floor/basement that was the former mortuary

I would yes, as I'm sure the apartments would be nothing like the original hospital. Mind you I might take some persuading to live in the towers in leicester
