We still had valves in the teles when I were a lad, still had VHF/405 lines black and white sets too

I remember the first teletext decoder - it was a bloody big box, bigger than a VCR which stood on top of the TV set and was connected by a bloody long wire with a 'remote control' on the end of it

Oh and good old Testcard 'F' complete with the little girl and her clown playing noughts and crosses

you could be right but we certainly didn't have a telly that could get both channels, I remember getting a telly with a choice of channels as a 'present' when my brother was born in 1959

To exercise you ran around the streets playing "it" or riding your bike, not plugging in your Wii Fit!

I can remember getting 10p to buy a bag of 'mixture' and was bloody thankful for that lol my kids look at me stupid if I give them just a quid now (although I do believe £1 won't get much booze or fags lol - my youngest is 15!)

Who can remember the 'Trade Test Transmissions' that were run from time to time on BBC2 ?

I think it was around 1969 when they were rolling out the colour service.

The one that I can remember was a short documentry type thing all about the building Zambezee Dam and the hydro electric power station.

There were a couple of other but I can't remember what they were about

Yeah I had a blue Chopper bike and one of those cheap Japanese transistor radios (Remember the ones - airband, short wave, long wave, medium wave, VHF - the bloody works) crossbar next to the gearstick. I used to fly around all day and every day on that bike listening to the Radio One Roadshow, Kid Jenson, Emperor Rosco and everything else that was on Radio One at the time .... good times, not a care in the world
