so for the bikers among us, another year is close to ending, who is modifying there bikes this winter? who is changing there bikes?

m winter plans

98 R1 is going

Cagiva mito is going

Rd350lc,partial rebuild, new exhausts

rd350 ypvs total rebuild and painted

tzr250, find its intermitant fault. so what you doing?

Saving up for an E335, and a replacement for the JCM900 as those two would not go well together.

Maybe an AC30

I'm biased but personally I think scooter riders who ride in all weathers are much more bikers than those who only ride gea_ed bikes for a handful of warm dry days in the height of summer.

Assuming all goes well I will be riding my 565cc maxi scooter all winter.

So where do you draw the line then? What about vehicles like the Honda Integra which is between a scooter and a manual bike? And how about the bikes in a more traditional shape but running auto CVT transmission? And finally what about cruisers that have the same riding style as scooters?

Everybody likes different types of bikes. We are all different.

I've done my share of riding year round just not for me now

And when the R1 and cagiva mito have gone I will look round for a Honda c90

Some day I'll get a bigger bike, but the scooter does me nicely for now. Ride it to work through the week all year long, getting through traffic quickly, and around £15 a month fuel. It's my first 'bike' and I'm deeply in love with it!

Need to strip gsxr 750 engine down as blown a shell bearing. Then rebuild back to blue prints.

Zxr 400 just needs service and pre winter checks before applying storage regime.

Go to bike show in NEC and day dream plus chat up some of the stands I candy

Oh and hope the Kawasaki h2 turbo ninja is there again just love that bike xxx

I had a becket tuned rd400 and then a Beckett tuned rd350lc back in the Day. Terry Beckett is still going but he doesn't do the tuning anymore he farms it out. And he is very expensive just trading on his name Just got my barrels back for my present 350lc and 350 ypvs from being tuned. Not by terry Beckett I hasten to add

I bought 2 RD400Es together off a guy as an unfinished project for £225 in 1983. One was just a box of bits and the other was just about rideable lol I stuck one of the engines in ma car and dropped it off at Terry's and said "Do what you can with that for £150", not sure of the exact spec, but it was quite rapid to say the least when he'd finished

Ma mate sprayed it up in a custom black paint job. I kept it for 5 yrs and sold it for £450, the other I kept standard and sold that for £250 after a year

Normally I ride through the year so I don't get any down time at winter.

But currently no bike might get one and do the work on it now and not put it on the road till February or something g though

Rented an 883 in Florida a few years back, slashcuts, ape hangers, and a peanut tank...

(There you go cagers, work that out ! )

Refuelled, every 80 miles but needed to take headache tablets every time cos the noise was hell lol.

Indicators and mirrors would unwind in front of my eyes if I ride too quick.

As for my 3 babies, 2 will be winterised, the one with the heated grips will pop out occasionally.

Winterising being batteries float charged, fuel topped off and preservative added, then run with taps off until motor stops.

Then hibernate

I only do the easy bits on mine these days, and am getting lazy in my old age.

I managed to upgrade the front end with Racetech Emulators and 4-pot Tokicos off a Gixer, which did make it a lot better...

I just need to get off my bum and finally stick that Ohlins on the back, but can't be bothe_ed with all the bits and bobs that I need to take off to do it - I need someone to spank me until I give in and do the job!

I got 3 now 1 I just pick up its got 3 things rong with it so will be getting it ready asp its a yam vergo 535cc

The 2nd one is a gpz750cc that I'm trying to make in to a lowe rider type so that won't be ready till late next year

The 3rd is a gs850cc that needs work over winter

Nope - used as a race bike - service every 9hrs.

With the SS valves and used on the road it's no different to the Enduro (X) version they do.

It's the 8lt tank that's the issue!

Don't forget though that's 15hrs at race pace and most races are only 15-30mins

riding your machine through the winter is the ONLY thing that qualifies you as being a biker ..... if you ain't riding it in the winter then you ain't a biker, instead you are merely a motorcyclist.

I'm looking at getting myself a custom streetfighter or a Ktm or beemer. I can't decide what though.

I'll be riding it every day, as long as its not dangerous on the roads. I'm hoping for a mild (no black ice) winter.

I'll be happier when I'm properly mobile again.

Ok, here's what happened. I rode my bike once in September last year then when the weather was nice between Christmas and New Year it started first press of the button. It remained outside under its cover for three months until yesterday, when it started first press of the button. I love my BMW

So rode all winter (as usual). Never did understand this " biking season" thing, only thing that stops me is snow and ice( though even then, I might use the 125 instead; but we only get snow here about once every 5 years.

Dudes, don't wish to 'piss on the parade', but rode all my adult life on Honda CBR600, then Fireblades! Loved to road race with friends, till I collided with a Grouse, in Scotland&came off the bike...

Now paralysed from the chest down, for the last 20yrs!

Life is amazingly good&shaving lots of fun, especially on here, but just wanted to act as that conscience in your ear! Use tracks&be careful on them roads!

Spinal units are full of bikers!

Sorry to dampen the mood, but if this acts as a slight brake at the right time, then brilliant!

Having said that, if I were fixed tomorrow, it would have to be an R1!

Just like to say i second what that lady said been on bikes since i was 7 we don't own a car we ride all year round been knocked off twice by car drivers that don't look and a young man has just been killed in the same spot by an 86 year old man that had dogs running loose in his van that distracted him but what was the horrible thing his dad was following him on his bike
