I'm currently waiting in a bar but I get the feeling I've been stood up.

Nearly half an hour overdue and they haven't been online (on here since yesterday).

Hi hum.

Give it an hour - it's that time of day for bad traffic.

So you don't confirm a meet on the day through here? If I didn't hear anything on the day I wouldn't turn up,unless that was the arrangement.

My first ever verified meet on here was over half an hour late (I can say that now they're UNLOS) - I was going to give about 5 more mins then they turned up hugely apologetic and we had a fantastic time!

Hour wait tops though ...

We were 40 minutes late for a meet once because the train before ours broke down.

But we had exchanged contact details and were talking to the couple. If you've been stood up, then I'm sorry. It sucks. Its happened to us, too

I was two hours late once when I got the train to a meet in the last big storm we had. Managed to get through on the last train before they closed the line but I did keep him posted throughout. I think no communication and no show I'd give it an hour if I had a good book on me.

I've had people turn up late for me... I'm okay with that if there's a decent excuse. I've never been stood up (*touches wood*) though. I think that's pretty rude and there would be no second chance.

I would never travel to a meet if there had been no communication on the day. Sometimes due to where I may be working I have no phone signal or internet, I would then say that I might not be in touch until shortly before meeting, but i would have checked in before starting off. I would wait as long as an hour, but no more.

Same here, saying that I would have messaged via fab if I was running late or couldn't make it, I think the no communication probably means they won't turn up, if they wanted to meet they would keep in touch so you didn't leave while they were on their way

Marc and I had a lovely social with someone a little while ago.

We went to the designated Costa, sat and waited. After a few minutes we sent a message on fab telling the other person where we were in the Costa.

We saw that person walk through the door....and remind us that we were supposed to be meeting at the Cafe Nero a few blocks away

Embarrassment is tough to live with sometimes....

It's not as if the op had to "turn up" as the meet was at the hotel he's staying at

Still, he's now suited and booted, so might as well make the most of the rest of the evening

Years ago when I was a naive puppy, not to say a complete fool (Becky, you are not allowed to read this!! ) I agreed to meet a women at a hotel 50 miles or so away after exchanging no more than a couple of messages.

After sitting in the tiny lobby for a few minutes, it became rather apparent that there were more than a few shifty/sheepish looking men sitting around. One of them eventually cleared their throat and mentioned the website - no less than 8 men got up and left muttering their various curses.

I stayed for a bit to demonstrate to the reception staff that I couldn't possibly be so stupid and then sidled out, lesson learned

I used to be "friends" with a girl who was an operator / manager on one of the oldschool telephone chat 'n' date lines.

She used to spend half her evenings arranging shit like this ... sending guys to hospitals, carparks, handing out each others numbers and addresses and all sorts.

I'm just relieved I knew the real her rather than being one of the poor bastards she used to have a laugh with.
