in the eye of the storm

Anyone else ever take a cooling off period before they make up there mind about buying something .

I have my eye and a expensive toy I can afford it but I can't stop thinking you don't need it and your unlikely to use it much .

Its fishing related rather expensive and on sale I'm sure its because its on sale I want it .

So I'm taking a cooling off period like I said if I still want it by the weekend I'm buying it

I do this all the time especially if I'm umming and ahing over it. Sometimes I buy it and sometimes I leave it and then buy something else instead

I do that

If I want it I think about it a few days

If I still want it buy it

If it's sold out. It wasn't meant to be.

Find myself doing this more often now & have actually avoided buying several things that would not actually have been used that much in any case.

However, if you know it's a great deal, unlikely to be repeated & you can afford it, go for it

I don't really big much I don't count clothes etc. Usually it's when something needs replacing I rarely go out and just buy something big, although I've spent a fortune on the kids this year.

Last night luxury item I bought myself was my tablet and that's 2 1/2 years ago

Take that time to check on Ebay or other sale sites see if anyone is selling one. I am dreadfully impulsive and often buy on impulse.

I'm erroring on the side of not buying it now because it would be a indulgence.

Although it really is a bargain and there's a slight chance if I look after it it may actually rise in value in about 20 years become a collectors item so to speak .

I go with my gut feeling quite a lot and if tells me I don't need it/shouldn't buy it I tend to listen to it, the things I've bought over the years is ridiculous and not used just because it was on sale!!

The more important it is the longer I tend to take making a decision.

I'll buy the first pair of shoes I see that I like but I could look at 10 vans or motorbikes before I made a decision.

Its not going to make me a better fisherman its just a tool for catching fish a well made expensive tool .....the problem with us fishermen is we are bloody collects of tackle .

Depends what it is.

Something small to buy, I just buy it buy it.

If it's something bigger then I consider it more carefully.

If it's something like a tattoo or a piercing or a pet, I have a six month rule. I wait six months and if I still want it, I have it.

Sounds like you're drooling over it so could you sell one of the things it could replace to justify it, otherwise you don't want to have any regrets, so.... (or put it straight to the top of your Christmas list).
