There are 4 albums I always associate with long car journeys.

The Pogues - If I should Fall from Grace with God

The Waterboys - Fisherman's Blues

Paul Simon - Gracelands

Pulp - Different Class

My kids will humour me for only so long before insisting on Biffy Clyro - Puzzles

West Wales and Cardiff

On long journeys I often play the Joni Mitchell album Hejira.

It's a beautiful album about travel/ escape. She wrote it when she travelled all round the U.S. and Canada after a break-up.

The lyrics are just wonderful from start to finish - full of insights into the human condition and the world aroundZ

There are bands I love that just can't do it on stage and DiV stuff sounds soo worked but I was very pleasantly surprised to see them translate it to a live performance.

The right place

I went through a phase of starting every car journey to the Hawaii 5-0 theme tune. Every trip felt like it had purpose.

Must do that again.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

"Ive got 10 thousand songs on my ipod and just hit shuffle so its different everytime "

This, although only 3500. Sing along with the lot, even the cheesy stuff that turned up on the "worst songs of the 80s" thread a few weeks ago.

Sadly, the lack of sunroof makes the YMCA dance quite tricky....
