I've bought everything i've ever wanted.

I expect now that I am about to buy a house in my 30s is the time I won't be able to afford anything. And going further into my 30s, assuming I have a child I won't have any money.

I'm not in my 40s yet but I do like being able to spend on nice furniture, bedding, lights and things like that rather than just having to live with what was provided by the landlord or what I was donated by family (we sat on an ancient conservatory suite for 2 years in our first house before we could afford a proper sofa).

I can't think of anything I want at the moment, in my 20s, that I won't be able to afford until my 40s. I'm not wealthy or anything, its just that the things I want now I make sure I can afford.

When i was in my 20s I was married and always skint

Since I have divorced I went to uni and got a good job, I'm better off now than I have ever been despite raising three kids with no financial help from their dad, for the first time ever I'm in a position where if something break I can afford to just replace it and if my kids want something I can just buy it them without having to worry or say no I can't afford it

Being 23 were both well off being 40 but we work hard to be able to have everything we want and have cash saved in the bank to do as we please with.

Some of the lads I grew up with take the piss out of me for as they put it "working like a donkey"

We're not loaded by a long shot but we do well for ourselves. By the time were 40 we'll be living somewhere sunny without a care in the world

I'll be 40 in 6 months. I'm financially secure (it's all tied up in house equity though) but still have to be very careful.

The boys get what they need (& often what they want!!!) & I'm getting better at buying for myself too

It's taken me 3 years of saving (refuse to book until I had the cash) but we're off to Greece in July. I'd love to visit my friend in Dubai but it's just a dream at the moment.

Other way around for me.

I was better off in my late 20's / early 30's - low rent & no children working full time, my money was my own. most of it went on clothes & traveling.

Now I'm mortgaged up, work less hours & have to meet the daily needs of family life.

Still it is what it is and I'm grateful for what I do have

It's nice when you're in a highly paid job and you can unthinkingly splash on a cool watch you just spotted online.

But nothing you can buy makes up for the fact that you're stuck in a shit job with a fucking tit for a boss, draining the life blood out of you, and basically growing old by doing shit that nobody really ever needed doing in the first place.

Needless to say... I ain't buying any cool watches at this point and that's fine by me
