Good Morning Fabbers and Friends

Goodness me it’s a chilly old morning, the mist is rolling across the fields, spreading her grey vail. The subtle shades of grey and green it’s quite ethereal, it quite makes one believe in fairies and myths of day long gone. Pooch has his nose stuck in a rather well read and ancient book of welsh mysticism called The Mabinogion. It tells of tails of Knights and their ladies, fairies and giants. A great read and well worth a peek chums.

My what a busy day it’s going to be too, a good long wander in the woods, wrapped up warm , Pooch will be wearing his new scarf. The weekly shopping, provisions to gather in for the chilly dark evenings of next week. Logs to be chopped, so that we may enjoy a warming fire on our return from our walks. Always a pleasing sight, and fantastic to make the most delicious toast on.

Later this afternoon 15 brave boys from my beautiful country will seek to do battle with the men of South Africa. It’s going to be a bruising contest and no quarter given by either side I imagine. Pooch and I will be with them in every ruck and maul, each scrum and line out, hopefully carrying that ball across the try line. I shall need to purchase extra nibble and a decent Rioja.

Given that the Pooch is indulging his lust for past histories. We discussed which period in time would either of us wish to visit, purely on a whim. We have allowed it to be clouded with the dreams and visions we have of the periods , we both understand they were harsh and some tines brutish times.

For the Pooch , Medieval times , he dos so thrill to the idea of Knights and chivalry

For Me ..The Roman and Celtic history of our area. This has long been a place where history has been made.

So for you my chums the question is

Which Period in time would you most like to visit and why? Yes your allowed rose coloured spectacles

Have Fun

Taffus and Sir Pooch

My what an epic opening!

It's a difficult question as I'm a creature of comfort most of the time and enjoy the cosmopolitan nature of our society and open mindedness of (a lot of) people. So the modern world is a hard one to leave behind.

However the intrusive nature of technology is too much and I'd love to return to a time when we relied on our minds rather than our smart phones. So for me I think the 60s. Join in the fight for social change and acceptance, make the world a better place

Almost as long as yours taff (not according to what I read on the forum toilet walls though)

Would love to be an eyewitness at Richard I embarkation to The Crusades, his army arrayed on the beach whilst his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, berates him for being homosexual & swanning off to war with his boyfriend Phillipe of France & leaving England without an heir.

Edwardian - I'd be the one on Southampton docks before Titanic's maiden voyage with a placard saying: It will sink! Don't get on it!..

I think the time of King Arthur and his knights.

I would have to be Guinevere though so I could enjoy the attentions of more than one man and dress up in a nice frock.

(Being a peasant is bad enough today- would have been much harder then!)

This ^^

I'm absolutely fascinated by this period of history, and especially Eleanor of Aquitane.
