Bradford

I saw one of these in real life yesterday in Bradford and thought they looked kinda cool.

Anyone got one?

Just found out that it is actually illegal to drive on the public highway or the pavement, so the only way you could use your £300 toy is on private property, with the owners permission

The only ones that are illegal are segways.

The uni cycles or the ones without the handle bars etc are all legal.

It's just because of a silly judge ruling them a motor vehicle and the police framing them not road worthy

Segways are also illegal, unless you have Tax,Insurance and MOT. Classed as a motorised vehicle and subject to the same rules.

No, they are all illegal to use on the public highway or pavement, and for good reason. You think it's safe for kids to be darting about in amongst traffic on motorised vehicles ? Or safe for other pedestrians if they do it on the pavement?

We have rules about motorised vehicles to protect both the operators thereof and the rest of the road using public.

Nope, sorry, check your facts, there was a ruling last week confirming that all these new hover boards, sel propelling scooters or whatever you call them, are all illegal to use on the public highway, for exactly the same reason as segways are.

Bicycles are not self propelling, and thus not affected.
